When were Spain supposed to turn up? They were dreadful but Chile were awesome , talk about fighting spirit, they played the full 96 minutes.

What a fairytale ending Australia could've been , although listening on Radio 5 to it Robbie Savage put me off .

Listened to Hodgsons interview yesterday and I wouldn't be surprised to see Rooney on the bench this evening, trouble is he'll be damned if he does and damned if he doesn't if the result is bad.

Rooney should play is his best position.

No one wins anything by leaving their best players out and i am sure Uruguay will be delighted if they see he is a sub.

Maybe the team can get some cheap seats if they share the plane with Spain !!

I support Birmingham city. We won 2 games at home all season. I really can't get worked up about England.

Well what a bunch of idiots :(

I'm not sure who was at fault for this one, maybe Gerrard shouldn't of been Captain as he seems too nervy in a position of leadership, which seemed to have a knock on effect
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but now I would of played all young guns completely,

Disappointed Rooney was on the pitch, I really don't think he is good enough in an England shirt for youngsters to look up to

I find Hodgson a good Manager but still needs some oomph and tiger spirit , as much as it pains me to say it being a Gooner , but Alex Ferguson would of got the best from these 11.

There is a small chance, but TBH I'm not sure I want to go through another 90 minutes of this !!

To be fair they played quite well but the rest of the world just have better players. If suarez was on our side last night we would have pissed it, that's the difference.

Just heard Chris Waddles rant on twitter and he has said everything that needs to be said about the English side.

He is 100% spot on in everything he says.

I think Italy play tonight at 5 so that should put us out of our misery

I don't think we've got the players. None of the new lot look like world beaters to me. Maybe I'm being harsh on them but we rely too much on foreign players in the Premier League. You look at our demise since Sky started investing in football. We've done bugger all of note since '96

The issue of too many foreign players does need to be addressed and soon otherwise we will be lucky to qualify for these competitions in the future.

I still think we over rely on picking players from the top few teams instead of picking the players that would make the best team for England.

Too many of those players are chosen simply because they play for the big clubs.

I follow Villa (I don't go to matches so can't say I support them)...and I share your sentiments about England. That and I'm 44 now...so I've just been let down too many times to invest any emotional capital in the useless gits.

The Daily Mash wrote:ENGLAND has offered to call a temporary halt to jokes about how quickly Italian tanks can reverse.

Prime minister David Cameron made the offer to Italian counterpart Matteo Renzi last night in a desperate two-hour phone call.

Mr Cameron said: “I stopped short of banning the Italian tank joke completely because that would be a profound erosion of our national sovereignty.

“I’ve offered him a three year tank joke ceasefire, which, being Italian, he was more than happy to accept.

“Bo!!ocks.”
