Wild card suggestion.

Fireblade with bar raisers which would be similar riding position to the vfr.

Absolute brilliant all round bike.

And you can get peg lowering kits although the pegs are not high tbh.

People on the 1000rr forum are putting 90k on these bikes no trouble, just routine servicing and consumables.

Preferably I'd go for a more upright position than the vfr.

Popped to blade on Abingdon at lunchtime to have a look at the z1000sx, very nice. They have demos of the sx add versys thou at Swindon so I'm going to try and blag a quick test ride on both.

Also had a look at the multi 950 s, I really like the idea of the smaller powerplant but a couple of reviews had it as a bit under powered for the weight.

The smaller Multi almost weighs the same as mine. That is a lot of weight for it to move.

I keep looking round too as mine is now three years old and out of warranty. Too many nice bikes and too much choice.

If you had your time again would you have still upgraded the old Multi for your current one? I’m getting close to the stage where I reckon I can get back on the big beast, and realised it’s coming up to 10 yrs old (still only 22K kms on it) and was thinking of looking at trading up to the DVT

Definitely. It's a better bike. In every way to my mind.

You sit in it rather than on it and you get much more feedback from the front tyre.

Tbh, I can't find anything better so unless someone offers me a great deal over the next few weeks then I will keep it.

About 11,000 miles.

I would be quite tempted by an MT10 but i believe the tank range is very poor.

If I am honest I don’t particularly want to change, it does everything I want from a bike but it would be remiss of me not to check out all my options.

It's a stonking piece of kit. You'll struggle to find something to better it for your needs.

The reason the 15k service is usually circa £1k is because they generally need chain and sprockets at that mileage too according to JHP.

MT-10 has a usable range of about 110 miles, the most I got was 130 and worst on the IOM trip was 75 to the warning, some get less than that.
Mine did have a K&N, LeoVince 3/4 exhaust and remap. But that didn't seem to bother the fuel consumption.

As for multistradas, I wouldn't go for a pre DVT bike, I had one and it's the most problematic bike that I have ever owned.

I’d put in an honorary mention for the 1200 Tiger/Explorer, a mile eater with no chain to worry about, but described as having more character the GS in most reviews.

I reckon £7.5k cash would get this with the luggage included.

The Tuono i had was about 100 miles and it was a pain in the arse filling up so often.

The Tiger 1200 is pretty expensive and I don't think Triumph are discounting at the moment

True, the top of the range GS and Tiger are the best part of a grand apart in prices after you take fitting charges etc into consideration, but we aren’t talking brand spanky, or are we?

Brand new the GS beats the Tiger by 5-10%, second hand the Tiger beats the GS by 20%.
