:? If he were hit by a ballot wielded by John Wilkes,,,,,,,,

It seems to me that for democracy to work, it needs to have the confidence of the electorate. When the voters don't feel that their vote is worthwhile, the government it delivers ceases to be something they feel legitimately subscribed to.

On a semi related matter, & doffing my shiny silver hat, I perceive some of those underhand influences in Hong Kong's unrest.?

I wonder if the turn out will be lower this time? I get the impression a lot of people are already bored with this election.

Did anyone want the election? I didn't. Its yet another unnecessary distraction from the job at hand and even more money will be spent unnecessarily!!

They'll be too busy with office party piss ups & shopping to be bothered with irrelevant stuff like the future direction of our country's outlook.
The fact that we therefore probably deserve the outcome brexit will deliver, makes it no more palatable to me personally.

Bad timing & I for one don't want one. However the current government is unable to pursue it's intentions, and believe an election will deliver them the opportunity to do so.
That is the only reason they have called the election.
They have even intentionally timed it so that students are unlikely to be able to vote.

You mean the election that takes place before the criminal proceedings against the Leave campaign and the election before the release of the Russian involvement into Brexit and the last general election?

Yeah, I can think of a few people who might want the election and Brexit to take place before they're in the shit.

Brexit's cost at least £78 billion* so far, an election will cost around £150 million. So "pocket change" by comparison.?

They spent £100m on the October no deal campaign.

The last general election cost £140m.

The actual physical direct cost for Brexit so far is about £2bn. The £78bn is lost trade, reduction on GDP, movement of jobs, etc.

So you're saying that devalued sterling, lost trade, reduction of GDP, jobs etc is not a cost.?

Even if I take the £2bn figure, that would make the cost of a general election less than 0.1% .??

By actual physical cost I mean money that has physically been taken out of the coffers to pay for something.

IMO the things you mention aren't costs, they're losses.

The conservative election bus has banned the Daily Mirror from traveling with then. The only newspaper to be banned.

They know that in serious debate, them and their policies are found wanting.

FFS!

If this was business and you pulled a stunt like that you'd be hauled into court faster than you can blink. Who also wants to bet this little stunt was funded by tax payers money.

This is nothing and only the start. The closer he gets to power the dirtier they will get, they just don't have anything else to offer.
