I know you were having a laugh with the 'stupid bike' comment D, and I was too with the reference to my son. But the inability for some people to accept responsibility for their actions and the outcomes is something that really grates on me wholesale. Every crash I've had has been my fault. Even when the wheel bearing failed and I went over the bars, I still hold myself responsible for not doing proper checks and maintenance on a bike I decided to hurtle around a track on at 200+kms.

Your comment that you don't care about the bike if you come off is valid if that is your outlook. But crash repair or write off and payout is only one of the many reasons to have bike insurance, and from what I've seen on this site of bike thieft in the U.K., affordable insurance is very important.

True with 95% quote, but I've seen the opposite and experienced bike failure.. The worst being Robert Dunlop during the NW200, catastrophic engine failure, and he then hit the brakes. also the failure of his rear wheel during the 94 TT.
Also loris Baz tyre failure, you can't say people crash bikes, with that one.
Dani Pedros when his traction control was taken out by Marquez, i can't blame him for crashing, when he was relying on his bike to perform.
The viewpoint is,, we need to look at the circumstance,s, before we blame the human factor.
Phil crowe, has just taken a massive off at Brands hatch yesterday. His explanation is he experienced brake failure. Can you blame the rider????. My opinion would be NO. .
Im open to be proven wrong, but it is a machine, history tells you, mechanical components fail.

Totally agree with you, riders will crash through no fault of their own due to mechanical failure.

But in nearly all of those cases there was a human factor involved in the failure. Race bikes and components are made and run on the edge. That's a human decision. We could engineer out all that risk, but you'd lose the competitive edge. Not the equipments fault, people make that decision.

My comment was a bit flippant and having a friendly dig at D41, but the truth is still there. We could design bikes and ride in a way that there would be no or little risk.

They were very good with the mods Rossgo.

Brake levers and carbon bits are never an issue but when you start mentioning multi bikes with forged wheels, power commanders, quickshifters, suspension and brake changes they normally get all arsey but Bemoto were great. Like for like replacement and no loading of the policy

Yep...if biking were 'easy' I don't think I'd want to do it....it's the hard part that makes it worthwhile.
