Found a few slivers and one larger lump of metal floating round in the engine. Not getting a good feeling (deadhorse)

No news on the car. Calling into the local Subaru garage tomorrow morning to order some new oil feed pipes then gonna cross my fingers as hard as I can that there isn't much other damage. I've pulled the sump off my bike today and found a lot of small flecks of metal and a couple of quite big ones. Not good!

I think Opie Oils do an oil test kit for looking at contaminates in the oil but not sure if detailed enough to identify where the metal has come from it may just be looking for water, coolant contamination etc....

Maybe worth a quick Google.

Hope its nothing bad.

How much oil did the car loose ?

Well it's a case of bad news but could be worse!
My engine is now in a pile of bits

20160804_153919.jpg
And here's the damaged bit
20160804_154033.jpg
One of the big end shells is **** and it's that that I found scattered around my engine

The crank is damaged too so that's going to be sent off to be re-ground hopefully. Some plasti-guage needs ordering to measure shell thicknesses and I need a rebuild kit of some sort from Triumph. Oh and I have a shit load of parts that need cleaning (party)

At least you're confident enough and able to tackle the issue, which will save you a small fortune.

This is the furthest I've ever been into an engine by a long long long way. The chances of all these parts finding their way back together is fairly small (facepalm)

mate I feel for you but you can rebuild it ive done a few aircooled porsche engines and they made great power and were very reliable.Building your own engine is a great achievement and feeling of satisfaction
When I ripped mine apart I took photos of everything and labelled plastic bags to put each part in,chinese takeaway tubs also come in handy
good luck you can do it

Impressive strip down IMHO, if that's your first foray deep into the core of an engine.

That bearing has spun badly. Is it down to excessive wear or is there an oil delivery problem.?

Perky's advice is spot on. I would further say take lots of pictures as you go along, to refer back to.
