I'm torn between the SBS RS and Bendix Mrr tbh as both good pads at a good price.

I have used the SBS RS on my old Blade and was happy with them. I know you rate the Bendix MRR but from memory I think you said the mileage wasnt great. Correct me if I got that wrong.

For me I find the MRR to have more of an initial bite. The next pad down is progressive, which is probably why I didn't get on with them. I prefer a grab and slow release way to braking

Refused to sell it.

Went out this morning, got the bike out of the garage, put my bag in the box, went back in to get my lid and lock up, alarm the house...

Get back outside, there's some scruffy van pulled up across my drive and some bloke is poking around the Millennium Dodo.

So I say "errr, excuse me?"

And he says "ello mate, this is just what I'm looking for for my boy. How much?"

Pardon me? Do you see a for sale sign? Did I advertise it? **** off...

"Sorry mate, not for sale," I tell him.

"I'll give you £500," says brains.

"That's very generous, but the bike isn't for sale"

"£600?"

At which point, I pull the choke, put the key in and start the bike, then go and take a photo of his van and the number plate.

"It's still not for sale. Unless you want to make that six grand, pal, I suggest you get on your way," I tell him.

"£700, my final offer"

"It's a bit early to be drunk, isn't it? Go on, **** off, it's not for sale, not now, not tomorrow, not at the weekend".

"Alright, there's no need to be rude"

"Oh, just **** off, you plank".

He **** off.

Well, that was weird. :|

That was my first thought...

I think I've seen the van around, but it'd be a bad garage to try to get into. Busy street, lots of visibility, alarmed.

Tbh, I reckon he was just a weirdo.

Definitely sounds like bike thieves to me.

Very lucky you came out when you did. I reckon their patrolling the area on a cold frosty morning looking for bikes left on idle to warm up whilst the owner nips back into the warmth of the house.

I would report the suspicious activity to the local police and give them the photo of the van and then be extremely paranoid on your security and stay vigilant.

Hopefully you get no repeat incidents and you have scared them off.

sounds like he wasn't sure if it was worth nicking and was trying to find out how much it was worth. Good move taking a photo of the van.

I'd be wary for a few days if I were you. Make sure its locked up every night etc. That sounds well dodgy. He may have been thinking of half hinching it and then you returned, so used the i'll buy it off you as an excuse for taking a look.

I know locking a bike can be a hassle sometimes, but I would use every safety device you have for next few weeks.

Good one on taking a pic of the van though.

Like others have said that is very quick thinking about getting a pic of the van. I'd love to think I'd be able to think that clearly when having someone barrage me with questions when I wasn't prepared for it. Personally I'd go to the police report it and tell them the number plate etc then at least you have covered yourself.

This has happened to my girlfriend with her KA years ago when she walked outside her house to go and have a fag there was a picky with a van and he was poking around it. She asked him what was he doing and he said it wanted to buy it for his daughter etc. To this day I genuinely don't know if he wanted to Nick it or if he really was going to pay the money for the car but nothing happened after that.

It's very scary to think people just come snopping around your property and now I have had 2 bikes nicked I don't trust any bugger!

Fitted my quick action throttle on to the zx10 was lucky the cables matched up perfectly. But bloody hell it took some getting on i can tell the engine is low in the frame as the throttle bodies are just a pain in the bum to get to.

Just about got the air-box on before my hands started to freeze so retreated inside

Got called up to say my bike is all done! Everything all done. Fresh oil, K&N air filter all cleaned, new plugs, new coolant, new brake pads and valve clearances all checked (absolutely fine after 33k miles)

Quick question how many miles should you take to bed in new pads to old discs?

Pads bed in quickly. Start off with some progressive braking and build up.
