Ducati 848 Cafe Racer Custom

Post by kiwikrasher »

Trolling ebay and came across this

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ducati-848-C ... SwvUlWsUlz

I really can't make my mind up about this bike, some angles it looks good but others not so much, I think the tail is way to short.

That tail end really lets it down. If it had been something other than the size of a shoebox it would have looked spot on.

This. I'm really tired of the cafe racer culture that's grown up in the last couple of years. **** hipster bikers.

Anyone calling me a hipster based on my having a beard and sleeves will be tutted at. :P

I really like the cafe racer bike look, but I think if I ever got one it would be a Thruxton or similar, not a chop up. But i'm no hipster. Can't grow a beard to save myself, don't have any tattoo's, I wear full gear riding a bike, and I can't stand soy lattes. And don't get me started on the shaved back and sides with thick comb over style haircut, for some reason they just wind me up wholesale.

Heh. Fair play. It just seems like they're Cafe-ing everything nowadays and whilst I really dig some of the old Hondas and the like, I'm not so keen on chopping a modern bike just for the sake of it. It IS hugely hip at the moment, but I'm not suggesting everyone who likes a Cafe is.

My former housemate rides a Thruxton and it's a surprisingly nice bike, especially with the Arrow exhausts and Ohlins rear suspension he's had added to it. Very planted.

And don't get me started on what the hipsters ride in. Ugh.

I've always liked the Thruxton, especially in red. Shame the brakes are so crap. I know there is a demand for an authentic feel to a bike but don't try and kill me

Twats with beards and open helmets. All that's wrong with biking...............

That's an excellent time to deploy one of those road stingers the police use.

It's the suits and lack of protective gear that bothers me. I'm waiting for the first crash at one of these events. It'll be carnage.

Btw, I have a beard and an open face helmet... but I still put other protective gear on with it. I'd never ride in a suit like that, but it's very trendy to do so at the moment... that said, I still think that overweight bloke trying to cram himself into the cheap leathers the other day is just as bad, tbh.

Jim's seemed to stop fine. Definitely, my fave recent Triumph I've ridden and way preferable to his Sprint.

Isn't the new one going to be a 1200? Bit unnecessary, really.

I'm not into those gold forks. I think I prefer the older version of the Thruxton.
