Hmm not sure now they look like early clocks to me too. The later clocks are on the one Duke posted ie later clocks have just 2 buttons (as are on my 2010)

The easiest way to tell is that the old style cocks are the ones with four small buttons on the left. The newer type have just two larger buttons.

The rumours about the immanent demise of the 675 Daytona range may affect your decision Monty.? (Appreciating classic & financial asset, or discontinued obsolete nightmare, depending on your viewpoint).

I suspect you'll know which way I voted. Don't get me wrong, the ZX6 is a cracking bike. It simply does not compete on an emotive level, it's simply just another great bike.

Generally your concerns about the 675 are the same ones we all feel when first considering "tempting fate" by buying a Triumph. Fwiw they have actually proved pretty reliable, with few 675.cc forum members reporting reoccurring issues.
They can become more fragile when tuned to race level, but I don't think they have a monopoly in that respect.?

Hth.

It's a common misconception that Jap bikes are l soulless. I've owned triples and do like then.

That said, the howl and induction roar from my zx6r gives me a massive grin. It's intoxicating.

For what its worth, my 2011 Daytona has never missed a beat mechanically and has been raced from day 1, never even seeing a road.

Its true that race tuned, the engines can prove themselves to be a little fragile with big bhp but mine has a kit head gasket and full race exhaust, making around 125 bhp at the rear wheel and rides and sounds mint :)

Thats where my vote goes :-) the sound on full chat is hard to beat!!

675 all day long, loved mine, I only changed because I fell for the S1000 RR in them there motorsport colours. the 675 sounds so nice and has that unique sound when it turns up anywhere, you always look around to see it, well I do anyway lol....

I have had both and loved both...but I think I would go for the Daytona. Love the sound and everytime.I go out with the 675cc lads I always find myself listening into to their singing while next to me and taking a peep when parking along side one. Don't think you would regret getting either as both are great but the Daytona just has that special something in my opinion

Ive owned 2 kawasaki bikes and neither were or could ever be described as souless to ride, quite the opposite in fact. Both are very lively, exciting rides and alot of fun.

Personally I don't see the 675 as semi exotic and no more desirable than a zx6r. Just my opinion and don't mean to upset the many Triumph fans who are on here which looking at the vote figures there are many :P

I would test ride both and see which you prefer but if not alot in it and you like both just get which ever you find first as a good bike at a good price would be my advice for what it's worth.

The ZX is growing on me, but it's not really floating my boat. Not ridden the ZX, but I have done a few sessions at Brands Hatch on the 675 and really liked it.
Isn't that your answer then? If one floats your boat and the other one doesn't, it's almost a no-brainer.

OK, valid points raised about end of life/spares availability etc, but there wasn't a problem getting stuff for the last model of Daytona in my experience.

If you're planning on keeping it as long as you did the last one then depreciation isn't really an issue either.

As for the whole soul thing, it all depends how you look at it, how you interpret what gives a bike it's character. I don't believe one bike necessarily has more than another, it's just how it invokes character and feeling from yourself.

My two penneth says you want a Daytona and enough votes on here to back you up!

Spot on Itchy, think you've just about summed me up. Daytona it is then, or maybe an 848!

There both great bikes i think you have to go for the one that you want to open the garage too the most forget stat's as it would be very close between them its how it makes YOU feel that's the important bit.

Any bike can have soul as long as it tickles you man berries.
