Spec savers are full of shit

Post by D6 »

So I can get a voucher from work. Free eye test and a contribution towards glasses as I work with VDU's.

Had an eye test. First one for about 8 years. optician said I should be more regular but my eyes haven't deteriorated too bad considering. However she did recommend I now wear my glasses for working with VDU's as well as just driving.

So I go to pick some glasses using my voucher, and I'm told I cant use the voucher as I would use the glasses for other things,

I can only use the voucher when the glasses would be used solely for VDU work. I said when is that likely to be the case? If I needed glasses for reading and VDU could I use it then? No, as I would also need the glasses for reading.

So in other words this voucher can never be used. Because at no point does anyone only ever have their vision fail at the specific time of being in front of a computer only.

I never bought glasses. And have wrote a complaint to HR to tell them what spec savers said.

Not a term one hears very much these days!

Sounds like it's a rip off, to get you to invest in supplementary pairs of glasses. Hmm.

And they don't have a national database, so I can't order my contact lenses online or pick up lenses from another shop

Had the same issues D6.

Try another store as a suggestion. Sometimes it's just someone being too anal with how they read the rules.

Better luck somewhere else.

I always get my eyes tested and then buy glasses online now. Way cheaper and they come in about 4 days.
