Subscription free trackers

Post by Kwacky »

Does anyone know of a decent tracking security system you don't have to pay an annual fee for?

I don't mind paying decent money to get one fitted but the cheapest annual fee I've seen is £99, which seems to be taking the piss to me.

Not sure if such a thing exists. The Oxford one has a £60 annual subscription.

Subscription free trackers

Post by R1ckster »

I've used gotek7 a few years the prime version. I'd don't hard wire in so could pop it wherever as and when. Uses google maps etc. I think was official gumball 3000 tracker several years ago. Times change but I see they still have a website and based in France. Upfront is cheapish and sms top ups and alerts choose. Wasn't bad then. Few companies have popped up since then though.

No subscription. You choose how many sms alerts you want to buy.. And I choose frequency of position updates. Can set geofences etc

Even leaves cookie trail based off google maps

£60 isn't too bad, but that's a large tracker which means it'll be easy for a thief to find.

I'll have a look at the Gotek7

Which is the prime lite. I can only see links to Oxford and gotek.

Kwacky I think some companies offer a discounted subscription fee if you buy a 3 or 5 year subscription.

Looks good. Is it triggered by motion ?

Have you got a ground anchor Kwacky ?

For a 20 quid more I'd probably go the prime II route for what more you get for little extra.

Not sure. From experience years ago as times have change since. I only set it up for geofence a work and home so once I parked up it knew that if within that zone it was moved after so long an alert would be made. It clever enough to know when you arrive and leave and send and informing you. Maybe newer ones have motion but I doubt it because it's bloody small

Yes Blade, there are ground anchors for the bikes plus they're chained together.

Subscription free trackers

I've got a cheap webcam in my front window too...any concerns and I don't have to leave the bed. Just look on iPhone :) also is a good deterrent to see a led faced webcam on approach.: imply that there face had been seen even before they got to the bike even if they don't know that camera can't see that well . It's the risk

Sounds very secure. You can only take it so far imo as at the end of the day a determined professional thief will get it if he wants it. Security is good to deter casual thief's and little chav w@nkers but it's difficult to protect against a targeted attack from professional thief's. I've heard of professional thieves using dynamite to gain entry into a bike shop.

Not knocking security at all but imo you can only go so far and then you run the risk of being targeted for aggravated theft which actually happened to a mate. Two blokes with ski masks and hammers came into his house for his car keys as the couldn't steal the car without them.
