This is why I like Fast Group.. because most people know how to ride and know roughly what line they should be on. At Donington I trusted (to a certain extent) about 80% of the other bikes on track. At Pembrey I trusted maybe 1 or 2 bikes.
Novice is truly dangerous in my opinion however I seem to have witnessed more yellow/red flags in Inters than ANY other group. There's people in Inters that should be in Novice and people that should be in Fast. Such a massive mix of riders in that group and you really need to be aware of what's happening around you.

They need to Police it better and actively seek out bad riders or people in the wrong group.
Without Chrono Josh Brookes could ring up and book into Novice and they wouldn't do anything about it. It's dangerous

Everyone having track bikes doesn't help, either. They don't have the same care for their bikes as they do when riding on a road bike. Some riders see it as a badge of honour to have crashed on a track day. That;'s fine if you're on a £1500 track bike but but if you take out some bloke who needs his bike for day to day riding?

What gets me is when you see a brand new top spec bike on the track.. I don't think I could do it.
I saw a brand new Tuono Factory 1100 at Donington and was in shock and awe

TBH its what there designed for Cav although I can appreciate what your saying.
I think the opposite if I had a brand new 2015/6 R1 imo it would be a waste if I never took it on track which is where it is ultimately designed for.

I used to only ever go in the fast group but since I've got back into biking things have really changed.I couldn't believe how many track bikes there are with tyre warmers and slicks.If you only do a track day per year and ride a genuine road bike it's hard to choose what group to go into.Personally I hang back and go at the back of the group to get some space and stay away from the idiots who don't warm their tyres and can't use a smooth line.Chrono days have to be the most sensible way forward

After enjoying 2 days of open pit lane with very high standards of riding I'm really going to struggle with sessioned track time.
Need to find out of there are UK tracks that do open pit, but aren't mobbed by racers using it as a setup/practice session.

I'd love to do an open pitlane day.. I typically brake a 20minute session into 2 anyway. I'll come in, tweak suspension or tyre pressures then go back out for 10 minutes. Makes you feel like you get much more track time.

Not done an open pit lane day and have heard great things including there safer which is weird as you have more abilities on track at the same time in theory.
I'm guessing it's safer as there are less people trying to be a hero in their 20 min slot and people are more controlled and respectful with there riding.

I've done open pit lane on an evening session. I really enjoyed it. The egos tend to go out of the window as you don't have the have a go heroes trying to be the fastest in their group. Plus everyone seemed to give each other more room because you didn't know if you were sharing tarmac with a first time wobbler or not.

yep you definitley get more room ,its less crowded and more laid back.The faster guys know how to overtake you safely and are more predictable
