AGV quality has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years. My Corsa's finish is up there with the very best.

They all differ even in from same manufacturer guys so don't be put of a brand because one particular model didn't fit.

I can wear some Arai and some I can't. It's also the same with Shoei there is quite a variance between models in each manufacturers range in my experience.

I once bought a Shark online as all my other lids had been shark and in the same size and it was a terrible fit where all of my others had been perfect.

8) Now that's actually quite nice.

I wonder if it's as light as my carbon fiber NEXX one.?

I really like my NEXX lid. I'm surprised they aren't in more motorcycle shops in my opinion. I have had a fair few people ask about my lid when out, people generally like it!

I guess it's hard to establish yourself as a new brand in such a well established market place with its defined brand leaders.

I see a lot of new helmet brands are paying racers huge chunks of money to help promote their brand image.

This is the problem. Effectively all lids are the same as they HAVE TO pass the tests. But when given the choice custumers would go for the bigger brand meaning the ones we have all heard of so the littler company's can't afford to expand their ranges or tech eg the cheek pad quick release system or getting into the bigger stores. This is a shame personally inthink what makes a Arai better than an NEXX lid...money is the simple answer. Seems to be the way of the world, money makes money, if you don't have it then you have no hope! But I guess there's got to be winners and loosers in this world...more loosers than winners though hence why we are in such a state!

It's not just the safety tests you should judge a helmets value on though Rossgo.

You could ask why does a Arai RX7GP cost more than an Arai Chaser or Arai Aces helmet as they all meet the same safety standard.

The answer is plusher lining, better ventaliation, adjustable skull cap, quality of finish, emergency removal systems, lighter materials etc..... As with most things in life you do get what you pay for imo although this doesnt always good value. If you look at some of the cheaper brands which meet the same safety standards as the premium brands you will notice a difference in quality of materials, workmanship and design if you look in detail at what your actually paying for.

Exactly Blade but these better lids wouldn't exist if the conpany didn't have the money to produce them. If a smaller company turned around and went all in to sponser someone somewhere and did well out of it the company could then invest their new business eg customers money in designing and manufacturing a new more finished product which in turn could end up being a brand leader, surely this is how it work. All companies started off small at one stage or another.

Thing is Rossgo any new brand that wants to have a reputation for quality needs to start with a quality product and image. They can't enter the market as a low cost or budget brand and later try and develop a reputation for quality and prestige without encountering a lot of resistance rightly or wrongly.

Take skoda for example. These days they make excellent quality cars but really struggle to shake of the old imagine of being a very basic, low costs car manufacturer.

Good points there Blade didn't think of it from that point of view! Skoda are a very good example.

Im thinking of getting the AGV Valentino Rossi replica covered in hand prints and kisses... or the pink and blue Guy Martin replica...

Only thing is... they're REALLY cheap. Are they as good as they look or will I regret it?
