Makes sense that you can retro fit 1299 parts to a 1199 as they are fundamentally the same bike.

Would there be enough of a price difference to make it work while buying a 1199 and then having to shell out to change standard parts ?

I cant imagine the steering head bearing changes would be silly money but I think the adjustable swing arm pivot point is about £350.

You can get a 1199 for around £10k now and in fact JHP had an 1199S that they had sold originally up at £12750 the other week. Unsurprisingly it sold within a few hours.

What about a 899 don't they have all the mods already fitted ?

I saw Rockets yesterday and it looked gorgerous. I would have to see it back to back with a 1299 to confirm but I think the 899 looks better with the conventional swing arm.

If there is a 899 EVO or upgrade due surely there will be some very well priced 899's up for sale soon.

Just an idea as know you have commented on buying a 899 before (I think)

I'm just waiting to see what replaces the current 899 in the next couple of months.

To be honest I am in no rush to do anything but its always good to have something to aim for.

I'm fairly certain i wont be replacing my Multi with the latest bike but i might wait until this time next year and see if they update that.

The introduction of the Euro 4 regulations in Jan 2017 means there will be a lot of pre-registered new bikes up for sale this time next year.

Good thinking Duke should be some bargains about but I guess it will only be bikes that don't meet Euro4 though.

I assume the 899 and 1299 meet euro 4 ? And the 1199 doesnt ?

I think the only current bike that meets Euro 4 is the Multistrada.

I'm not aware of any other bikes that meet the regs from any manufacturer but I'm sure some must do.

It's a guess bit would have thought the new 2015 bikes like s1000rr, R1, RSV4 etc do. If not could be time to go shopping this time next year

i suspect there maybe a few bikes fitted with fugly exhausts in 2017

It would not make any sense for bikes developed in the last 12 months or so not to be easily Euro 4 compliant. There are mechanical noise limits involved too.

Listening to Rockets 899 on standard cans yesterday I dont think the Italians give a stuff about noise limits that or they bung the officals a big bag full of euros

A lot of bikes are developed with future regs in mind, but won't actually technically refer to them until they need to. As you say, there's no point developing bikes knowing what is upcoming if it won't pass those regs as well.

Go for a base 1299 rather than a 1199S.

Reckons everything about the 1299 is a step on from the 1199.

I can't justify buying a 1299S which is what I would really like.

I'm still not really sure what to do next though.
