So got a few mins in break time.
My commute is mostly dual carriage way national speed limit, mixed in with road works.
The ride home was dull. There's not much poke left at 90mph ish, it was really quiet with standard exhausts (and I was wearing ear plugs).
The seat was very comfy and the suspension was on the soft side which made for a comfortable ride, but a bit wallowy when braking and settling for corners.
The brakes were like 2 blocks of wood on a disc. only a single sided disc at the front, 2 piston and a very heavy bike I'm not surprised.
Seating position was a little forward in a kind of racing crouch, but still comfortable for many miles down to the more forward pegs than a sports bike and really comfy seat. Wind blast was probably no worse than my S3 despite no cowl on the front.
Indicators and controls felt a little odd, but I think that's just what you get used to. As was looking at an analogue speedo.
Engine was nippy enough up to 70-80 and not an issue out dragging cars or overtaking, although I would plan it a lot more than the speed.
It was not as nimble either as my speed. This may be a little dependant on what I am used to, but I found my speed is easier to do lock to lock slow turning when filtering around cars/traffic cones/ tailbacks.
So by the time I neared home I was thinking, meeh. It's ok but I don't see the appeal.
Then I hit some 30-40-50 B roads with slow sweeping bends and good scenery, and it all became clear. I started enjoying the bike. The slower speed and therefore quitter wind meant I could hear the strangled cans burbling beneath me. The handling now became perfect for the roads and imperfections were soaked up with ease.
As a weekend toy for cruising and enjoying a ride it is great. Anything else it can cope with fine, but you'll soon be wishing for something else.

I had a Bonny for a day and that sounds pretty similar. The brakes were shocking but I'm used to a strong brake set up on my bikes.
I do like the look of the Thruxton though.

Good work D6! Great write up, and pretty much what I would expect from a bike like that.
But as you found, there's a place for it, and I'd love to have the as an option.

honestly cant see the appeal in retro bikes but each to their own,I would love a blast on a Trumpet rocket though
