I tend to set the pressures specific to the tyre.

I could run the ntec Dunlops much lower than my usual Pirelli's

Good point....IIRC I've heard the same thing about the Dunlops.....I only tried Dunlops the one time and fric
kin' hated them....TBH, I was genuinely surprised at the difference in 'feel' (or lack thereof) and binned them shortly afterwards.....felt like they were wandering all over the place.

Yeah the Dunlop's of old were rightly named Dunslips, but the new ntec stuff road or track specific is very very good.

Well, the truth is that I had just popped them on, and took the bike on a very long and curvy freeway on-ramp that I wasn't familiar with, and it was covered in sealant repairs...those things are notoriously slippery & the bike was all over the place....but the seed was planted in my mind, and I never really 'gelled' with them as a result. The reality is probably closer to "you've always always used SC's, what did you expect??"

I've had a couple of sets of Dunlops in the past and both of them liked to slide.

Tbh anything will slip on that nasty selaant repaired over banding, its horrible stuff even in the dry

Ntec's are a completely different construction to other Tyres and are designed to be run at low pressures.

A racing mate rates them highly but steered me away from them saying is need a different suspension set up to any other tyre. He said try Racetechs, SC's etc first till I had a good handle on the bike then maybe give them a try.

I don't think I'll ever be at the level of dedicating the set up of my bike to a unique tyre.

Ntec technology is in the sportsmarts which is a fast road tyre Kiwi so I doubt the set up is as critical as your mate suggests. I have used about 3 or 4 sets of the GP racer road and track and no problem with set up or tyre wear. I wouldn't hesitate at giving them ago if you fancy them tbh mate.
