Agreed. Suppose it's the problem with chasing aerodynamic efficiency- you end up with a lot of slabs!

At least the H2R looks special. Kwak even went to getting special paint for it.

Honda do have a habit of taking things and making them bland.

159hp? What a waste of time that project it. Muppets will buy them of course, but most people wouldn't even notice that. It's a fireblade alternative for over ten times the price!

For that money I'd want 200 plus hp and a race paint job at least.

I'm out :)

A road going MotoGP bike with 159 hp?? My 10 yr old track hack has more than that!!!

Someone in the design/production dept has a screw loose.

At least you won't be ordering one from the states! For the rest of the world you can have an optional 212bhp.
"an optional “sports kit” that includes a new ECU, different front ram-air ducting, a different exhaust (dumping the catalytic converters and mufflers for full race baffles), quickshifter, data logger, etc., boosts power to “over 215PS” (approximately 212 horsepower), but also renders the bike “for closed course only”—the US model will only put out 101 horsepower according to the US spec page (engine rpm is reportedly limited to 9400 rpm on the US model in order to pass noise emissions standards). It is also stated on the spec page that “the Sports Kit is not available for sale in the USA.”

Why not make a proper NSR500 - if I had the money I'd buy one of those in a heartbeat, sadly though the emissions might be a sticking point, afaik they don't give marks for the lovely perfume of said emissions when determining the figures though..... :(

one of the things I really like about the Thundersport series is the Aprilia superteens (2 stroke 125's) on a sunday morning the smell of frying bacon and 2 stroke is quite intoxicating

I get the impression alot of people are not impressed but you have to remember Honda are a very conservative company and never go ott on race reps in road trim.

The legendary rc30 was only about 118 bhp in show room trim.

Saying that I have had an email direct form Honda with a detailed spec and over 215 bhp and 80% the same as the satellite rcv is impressive imo.

For the money they want it's a pisstake frankly, but I'm sure they will sell them all as most will never ride them and take them as an investment, like classic cars at the moment. Bonkers.

at least kawasaki stuck their balls on the line and made a fire breathing monster ,the honda falls way below expectations 159 bhp for that kind of money is a joke

Why do people keep quoting 159 bhp what about the OVER 215 bhp with the optional kit ?

The brief by Honda management was to give their young engineers a project equal to the original highly regarded engineering project in Honda circles which was the rc30. I would say they have succeeded in their aims. People are expecting the ultimate race rep which was never the intention .

I think the 159 figure is probably just sandbagging. With an ecu and a bit of ducting you can get 215 so that engine will be strong internally. Remember how Nissan claimed 480hp for the gtr but when it went on the dyno it mysteriously made 560?

Cookie I understand where your coming from and it was always going to be a collectors special but a fair view Desmosedici's are ridden and track day'd so you never know.
