Ducati Panigale 1299

Post by Blade »

Whilst most magazine reviews of sportsbikes focus on traction control this, gyro that, tft this, and auto blipper that etc.....

I have just read perhaps one of the most impressive stats in the last 10 years of sportsbike development.

It is official the Ducati Panigalr 1299 is the first sportsbike to exceed a genuine 1000 bhp per ton.

Many people have quoted this before but its always been spin. But it had noe happened. Tested indepenently by pb magazine the 1299 makes 196 bhp and weighs 194 wet, fully fuelled and ready to go.

What mist impressivr is this happened on a vtwin with a single sided swingarm which are know to struggle making big bhp and add weight to a design.

Hats of to Ducati, very impressive engineering IMO and much more so than electrickery this or that. Just good old fashioned performamce (raaar)

I saw Michael Rutter thrashing that very bike round Mallory a few weeks ago.

Very impressive watching him weave past the 'slower' riders.

Have you read the article Duke ? I know you said previously the R1 was not a clearer winner but from what I read it seems there wasn't a clear winner at all and all 3 bikes tested impressed the testers for different reasons. Seems there is not a bad bike in the sportsbike class of 2015 (y)

Not yet, mate. I know they were not too impressed on the R1's brakes and the stability in braking compared to the other two but said it made up for it on acceleration out of the corners.

Like you say, i don't think any could be a winner or a loser they are all so very good at most things.

Ducati Panigale 1299

Sportsbikes have come on leaps and bounds in the last few years. The electronics are simply astonishing, harnessing the sort of power that WSBK riders would've be experiencing not long ago and making it accessible to everyday riders. I struggle to comprehend how fast and accessible the latest 1000cc bikes would be compared to the same class of 10 years ago. Willing to find out though
