I thought the days of a well planned bank job were over.

Proper job too. Safety deposit boxes full of un-declared cash and diamonds no doubt. Apparently they were in there all bank holiday weekend. Its like a film.

Apparently they abseiled down a lift shift (bandit) to gain entry.

I bet they make a film out of this in 10 years time.

It's very very rare for safety deposit boxes to be covered by insurance. The owners of the boxes are the only people who know what's in them.

Did you hear about the security guard? He heard the alarm but said he wasn't paid enough to go inside the building and check it out (rolf)

What a tw@t for admitting that. Wonder if he is open to being sued for not carrying out his Job, alerting the authority's and avoiding all of this.

Exactly, they are mostly not insured, you can only imagine what's sort of haul they have got away with. As for the security guard.... What a plonker!

The police are suggesting that the gang started the underground fire in London to make it easier to rob the bank. Very clever if true

I hadnt heard that but very clever if they did as it saved there bacon.

I believe the police didn't respond to the alarm going off which they had notification off as they had, had lots of false alarms caused by cable damage caused by that fire.

You do have to wonder what our police do actually do with their time. Is burglary of any kind no longer a crime?

Yeah but in the majority of cases the police are simply responding in the aftermath of the crime.

There has been a lot of break ins where I am. 17 on one street in the month of January alone. The only thing the police do is send emails saying lock things up and mark your goods.

They could do more. They could target people handling stolen goods, they could do a good old fashioned police stake out, they came back 17 times for Christ's sake its almost giving them an arrest.

"They could have been there all weekend, who knows? It's a disgrace, it's like something out of a film," added Mr Bean.
