ID Chips under the skin

I'm not sure I'm keen on this. There's the risk of the chip details being stolen and you have to wonder what lengths a theif would go to to gain access to parts of a building, your cash or the equipment you use with the chip.

I think there would be uproar amongst sensible thinking people to this idea. They can go and get **** IMHO.

The government couldn't even get an ID card pushed through, this kind of thing is a long way off a public requirement.. Private companies however are a law unto themselves..

The UK needs an ID card system. Far too overdue IMO.

I disagree...we're already halfway there just through the amazing technology in modern phones.....an implant is a bit of a stretch, but I think we're already well on our way, and doing it quite happily.

Sorry....aimed at D6Nutz post.

This tech is all just an encryption battle, people will work to break the encryption and just walk around scanning and stealing people details, making charges to them, selling data and so on. I doubt RFID tech would ever stay long time secure. It would be better in a library setting or the like or a stock room/stock sorting warehouse to scan for locations of items coded onto RFIDs, maybe even postal work too, scan a package and address details pop up on the scanner but we have printed barcodes for that I suppose.

Also in relation to this story, couldn't a person just wear a wristband with the RFID attached/implanted into it with the same results?

Haven't read the article but doesn't seem like I'll need to. We need ID cards for certain. As for chips , night be a tad far for now. I think we will see it probably in my later years.
