Reports of a large bin lorry losing control on the high street in the city centre and mowing down several people. Some reports suggest there are fatalities.

How sad at any time, especially around now, why is it every year there seems to be something rotten happen like this at this time of the year.

Just saw this on the news, thoughts are with all the families of those involved.

Heard nothing of what caused the crash yet though, said the first pedestrian to be hit was 300 m before the final crash, the driver must have been in a bad way not to be able to stop.

Although not an official statement I believe eye witnesses quotes the driver was slumped at the wheel so I would assume a heart attack.

Something similar happened in Morecambe bay a few years back when a helicopter pilot had a heart attack when coming into land.

Very freak tragic accident. Thoughts are with the families of those who have lost loved ones.

thoughts with the driver as well. If he did have something wrong with him and he survives he's got a lot of guilt to live with for the rest of his life.

Indeed......reads the same way to me...and if that is the case, then the guy is not to blame....all too easy for public over-reaction in these situations.

Even if hes not to blame he will most likely blame himself anyway.

Very tragic for all involved including the driver and thoughts and prayers are with everyone effected.
