Battery dies in a day!
So it's made me miss a observed ride for IAM and today it just made me miss a ride while it is fairly dry!
So I charged it yesterday and connected it all back up. Then today I turned it over (it fired but struggled). I turned it off to see what will happen and of course it didn't fire back up.
Now my question. The bike has an alarm on it and when I tested the current it says it is taking 0.02 amps when the alarm is not set, when it is set it takes 0.03 amps...does this sound like a normal amount it is draining or is it taking too much?
I'm hoping the answer is: normal amount of drainage and battery is clearly crap as now I have ordered a Motobatt battery to deal with this situation!
Any help/ advise welcome but please don't ask me to strip down the bike!!
Thanks

Re: Batter dies in a day!
That amount of current drain shouldn't flatten a battery overnight.
Try this.

Re: Batter dies in a day!
Been thinking about trying the fuses but need the Haynes manual out as unsure where the fuse box is! So 0.02 amps is not an awful lot then for an alarm?

Yea it is charging as when I fire the bike up the volts jump right up. Hoping it is just a crap battery to be honest.
Blade glad that's normal amount [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH]

I have had newish batteries just go for no reason in the past, seems none of them like cold weather, might have something to do with it.

Re: Battery dies in a day!
Just a quick way of finding out whether the bike is draining the battery or if the last battery was crap. Dads old ER6 battery. Yes bigger than my bike allows but it's a test. Concocted by my dad with a key ring!!

Check your wiring away from the battery. Make sure it's not something simple like a poor connection earth.

Re: Battery dies in a day!
I get 10 days off at Christmas so I'll give it a look.
Tested the battery today. It was at 12.4 volts yesterday and today has gone down to 12.02 volts but it fired up several times quite quickly

Re: Battery dies in a day!
Just a quick update. Tested the battery yesterday and it had gone down but started fine. Tested it today and its home down even more less than 12volts. Considering getting dealership to take a look - possibly to take alarm off too if this is what is zapping the battery

Re: Battery dies in a day!
If you've bought the bike from a shop then take it back and get them to sort it.
