New RCV roadbike to be shown next week?

Post by C00kiemonster »

According to Visordown it may be.

Saying that if it looks like this and costs as much as the rumours suggest then no thanks!

Reading about all these new super bikes makes me wonder if it's the end of biking on a budget,I mean a normal working class budget.Surely this is going to push up prices,I definitley couldn't afford a new bike and I'm not exactly broke either

I can't see it Perkles, lets not forget the monstrously expensive oval pistoned NR750 or the highly elitist Brough Superior, worst of all the Desmosedici, insanely expensive and way beyond the means of normal people.

Stupidly expensive bikes have been around since bikes began, how many expensive race reps, homologation specials or technical showcases have been produced in the last 100yrs but we've still had normal bikes aplenty. As long as people buy them, bike manufacturers will make them imho.

There were rumours of two versions being for sale.

One was going to be a mega buck model close to a customer team RCV like what Scott Redding rides and then a more normal and lower spec road version.

I did make enquiries with the UK's biggest Honda dealer about a year ago and they were taking £500 deposits which if the bike was more than £25000 was refundable if you changed your mind.

Slight change of subject but I was in the Ducati factory the very next day after they released the Desomedici back in 2006. If i remember rightly the first batch were sold for £36000 which included warranty and servicing (rose to £39000 for later orders as demand out stripped supply so they made a second batch) and I wish I had bought one. They still go for the same money now so that's virtually cost free ownership for the last 8 years apart from tyres, fuel and a couple of services (service included for only 2 or 3 years I believe) so i reckon all of us have actually spent more riding around on ordinary bikes that owning a piece of GP history for the last 8 years.

I suspect this is the way litre sportsbikes will be going for the next few years. They may well become the same as owning a supercar.

Hopefully it looks better than that mock-up though.

I know I sort of skipped past that little stumbling block.

If that's the way they intend to go with the litre class then I want to see a return of the 750s

I emailed Doble Honda as being the uk's largest Honda dealer I figured they might know something but they said they know as much as everyone else.

They have heard it could be launched at Milan this year but also could be Milan 2015. They say price won't be confirmed till a few months after the launch when ever that is.
