Should have gone to specsavers

Post by D6Nutz »

Well it looks like I will be...

After years of fighting the inevitable the eye test today has stamped the card, I now need glasses for both long and medium distance :(

The guy that did the eye test recommended varifocals, but I think I'm going to try two pairs of single vision on for computer work and one for driving. Then I'm going to see if I can get a decent price on contacts for when I'm out all day or on the bike..

:D (clap)

I now have glasses for reading & close work, & I resent them with a vengeance. Having spent my first half century with perfect vision, & now being dependent on them really frustrates me.

Firstly (blush) for being a numpty and then (blush) as it shouldn't be possible to post the same thing twice as the forum should stop it...

Oh, and would you mind posting in a slightly bigger font as it's getting harder to catch the piss takes ;) :P

Is laser eye treatment an option to keep you glasses free or even reduce you to just one pair?

I feel your pain though, I've been skirting the edge of needing reading glasses for a couple years, it's only a matter of time I know, but being the only one in my family that had decent eyesight I've resisted it for a long time and am not anxious to cave in any time yet.

Join the club, I hate my varifocals and have now gone for two sets .At least I can see well at everything I'm doing rather than seeing OK at some of the things.

Twice I've left my glasses at home in a rush and have been completely debilitated

Not found anything, physically speaking, that gets better with age.

The needing three different pairs of glasses is a right pain.

My prescription is apparently just on the border line of needing two separate prescriptions or variofocal lenes but the Optician advised me to stay away from variofocals as long as I could

It may be an option in the future mate, but not now.

Well I did specsavers today and was really glad I did. The staff where really helpful, especially the nice girl that was helping me choose the frames. Boots recommended varifocals that where going to cost about £300, I wasn't so sure so have gone for two pairs instead. The manager of the store was great, he certainly knew his products as he worked out from the glasses that I chose and the options I wanted that the 2 for 1 offer wasn't the best offer so gave me a different offer and saved another £50.

Back to pick the glasses up next weekend and also bookup for a contact fitting appointment.

Just do what I do, enlarge my screen fonts ha ha. Especially when I sat on my specsaver specs the other day and broke the arm off... now look like the Jack Duckworth with gaffa tape holding it on lol

I like my contacts. I'm not a fan of wearing glasses. I don't like the out of focus peripheral vision.

Laser eye surgery isn't a complete fix. Your eyesight can degrade again and your night vision can suffer.

Not quite the same, but I had a good pair of sunnies that ended up in a portaloo. I left them there, for some reason I didn't want them back after that.

Good observation....no pun intended.

My eyes are trashed....it's depressing, because they used to be so good....I used to be the guy who'd read the "Printed In China" on the bottom of the exam card.....now I struggle to read texts on my phone.....in fact, I sometimes have to have them read to me.
But I'm 47, so kinda at that age where eyesight deteriorates....let's face it, it's not going to get better??
