Cav's Big Ride for Charity

Post by Cav »

Well that's the ride completed. It was supposed to be 75 miles based on the route plan, but the GPS had other ideas and made it close to 90. I decided to add some on and make it a nice round 100 miles.

It's fair to say I am physically sore as the ride to Bristol was mostly offroad and the last half of the return journey was canal path (read that as bumpy AF!)

The biggest challenge by far was the mental battle. My legs wanted to give up not long into the return journey and I had to push through with mental will. A few times I nearly gave up the additional mileage at the end but I knew I was unlikely to do this ride (or similar) again for a long time. I'm proud of what I've achieved, I'm proud of the charity I've supported, and most of all I'm proud of Vinnie... the little boy who has to endure much worse than a 100 mile bike ride for 2 years of his young life.

Nice one cav. Extra props for pushing out to the ton, that's a tough ride.

Top effort mate. I did wonder why you hadn’t put slicks on your bike, I hadn’t even considered a ride of that proportions was going to include offroad as well. Should be well proud of your achievement in both the ride and your fund raising effort.

Thanks everyone for the donations and kind comments, it really means a lot to me and the charity.

Want to know what's worse than not running slicks, Kiwi? These tyres are their soft compound and the front tyre is a downhill tyre :D it drags really badly. I wanted to do it all off road but when you're heading into a city you don't have much choice for that haha.
