Boston University has discovered that a third of all serious covid patients have a vitamin D deficiency.

Low immunity is no doubt a key issue and that can be as simple as recovering from a fairly innocuous infection.

I'm sure that will count as another "underlying condition"....but either way, one-third is a significant figure.

Coronavirus: French police raid ministers' homes in pandemic inquiry https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-54535358" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This needs to happen in the UK.

Where can I go without quarantining? PRETYY MUCH NOWHERE IN THE WORLD (facepalm) (gah)

In early summer, travellers could visit popular holiday destinations such as Spain and France without having to quarantine.

There are now only a handful of places that travellers from England can visit without encountering restrictions - either when they arrive at their destination, or return.

These include:

Greece - quarantine restrictions for Crete will be lifted on Sunday, but will remain in place for Mykonos
Foreign tourists can fly into Cuba at certain entry points
Gibraltar
Travellers who haven't recently visited parts of the UK deemed ''high risk'' can visit Germany without quarantining
Madeira and the Azores - if travellers cannot show proof of a recent negative test, they will be tested on arrival and have to quarantine until the result comes back (about 12 hours)
Sweden

There are separate exemption lists for Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Travellers from the common travel area (CTA) - the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man - are exempt from UK quarantine.

However, some parts of the CTA, including Ireland and the Isle of Man, impose restrictions on travellers entering from England.

Travel doesn't really bother me right now. I'm just concentrating on my family

If it even returns to how we knew it.

I'm just riding the waves at the minute, I've been struggling really bad with anxiety, stress and I've just about kept my depression at bay.. if I let that stuff get to me I probably wouldn't be here much longer so I'm just taking it as it comes.

And if that's the case, how many of the travel agents, airlines, ferries, etc... Will still be in business?

Will foreign travel ever be as we knew it?

Look after yourself Cav. There's family and friends for you every step of the way and lots of online and telephone help and support. You don't have to do any of it on your own. Never think you can't ask for help.

Kwacky is right. Don't struggle with it on your own.

Let others know how you feel so they can help if they can.

Almost certainly not.

Airlines reckon it will be 5 years before they are back to pre Covid levels.

I'm hoping lots of holiday homes belonging to Brits go up for sale in France next year.

From all that I can glean from your posts on here Cav, it appears to me that you're an exceptional example of humanity . With the developing idiocracy of the worlds population, that makes you very valuable and important to many of us whether you know it or not.
So, whilst any qualification to advise you I feel is embarrassingly inadequate, nonetheless I'm going to risk showing myself up for ridicule by doing so. :S

Two men looked out through prison bars..........

Fwiw I look at the world via the media, and constantly feel myself becoming angry, bitter, disillusioned & depressed. I look at my life, my work & the apparent insignificance all my endeavours seem (not) to make. Very dangerous for one who (apparently) overthinks things anyway.. :^

So my personal coping strategy (honed over many decades) has become one of flippant acceptance.: I can't change the world to be as I "know" it should be, nor will my worrying about all that help in any way or form. So I force myself to concentrate on doing the very best in "my little world" that I am able to, so that I can find comfort that all my efforts are for the positive good in as much as I am able...
Doesn't stop me whinging & sniping at all those things that annoy me, I just make a concerted effort to keep my tongue in my cheek so as not to let the seriousness get to me personally.
I force myself to not worry about things I can't realistically effect. it does get easier with practice, but takes a lot more effort (in my case it did anyway) than it sounds.

Probably won't work for everyone, but fwiw it seems to be keeping me out of a padded cell of my own tailor made wooden box.

Thank you, you put much of my philosophy on this subject in better words than I.

Sage advice (handshake)

You guys are the reason this forum needs to exist. Thank you all.

St Marks, that was well written and understood. For the most part I operate similarly to you but sometimes it can topple me. You're a great guy and I'm glad you have figured your way out.

There has been a lot of great news this year for me personally and I do try to remember that. Life isn't all bad and I do love my particular little bubble.

I have a similar coping mechanism St Marks.

Basically put I’ve learnt to not put any energy into things I cannot change or adjust. Just concentrate on your own ‘Sphere of Influence’ as my shrink used to call it.

And by that, your personal self care should always be priority. Eating well, exercising, mindfulness. I’m woefully failing at that these days (facepalm)
Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.

Unless the government grows a pair and starts making grown up decisions like the rest of the world I fear COVID 2.0 could be a lot worse than the first wave.
