nice ho w did you feel ?
heres' a tip that you may already know from running but even so its probably more relevant to cycling
When you choose your route for the day always check the wind direction and go out into it and come back with it
Before cycling computers etc etc I would plan my month and train by my watch,I would ride into the wind for say 2, 1/2 hours then try and get back in 2 !

Pretty good actually cheers. It's surprising the speed you can maintain when your not paying attention.

Good tip about the wind, probably doesn't make too much difference here as we live at the top of a hill and it's pretty much 400ft of incline whichever way you come in.

My only real issues where back ache after 20 or so miles and numb feet. I know the numb feet is down to footwear, I've tried two pairs of trainers so far.

Cool, I've started looking out for proper cycling shoes, second hand is a bit hard to come by but I need to keep the spending down a bit.

So I joined one of the Facebook groups and asked for general advice. Job 1 is to get the bike setup properly, someone gave me a really useful link to a youtube video that explains the setup really well.

Second, I got some advice on shoes and it would be useful to see your thoughts Perkles. I've been recommended the following setup (or similar)

https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Shimano-M520-S ... NkQAvD_BwE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mob ... tgQAvD_BwE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mob ... tent=mkwid" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm going to try and buy used where I can to keep the costs down, but what do you think to this for a beginners setup ??

I've got those Shimano pedals and some cleats for my road bike. The shoes for the cleats i bought in Decathlon. I didn't believe cleats would make a difference, but they do! Just have a good long practice how to disengage and engage them - otherwise everytime you stop, you fall over :D

You cant go wrong with spds for every day riding,the more expensive versions are just grams lighter
You dont necessarily need to spend that much on shoes, look online for last years models (y)
And these shoes usually come with a set of cleats
