Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
I could point you down a few greenlanes in the Peaks, but as you say I wouldn't do it on your own with a bike that heavy. Ask Rick, he might be up for it one weekend. I could drop you off at one end and meet you at the other. I also know a disused quarry that looks like it could be a bit of a laugh on an adventure bike.

There's an MX track near me. The AT is too big and heavy. Each time I go to Honda I see the CRF250 and really like it. But I would very rarely use one.

It is a bit of a dilemma. The bike that works best off road would not work well on road and vice versa. To do both there is going to be a compromise. It will be interesting to see if Triumph have managed to lose some weight on the new smaller Tiger. It certainly looks slimmer.
The new Yamaha Tenere 700 looks to be the best compromise to date.

Nothing is going to compare to a 250 offroad.
I could hook you up with these guys, they meet at the cafe down the road from my house.

Popped over to motolegends in Guildford. Great place and great staff. Chosen a new goretex suit to take me through the winter, my grin gerrik jacket has been struggling to cope with the rain.
Now sat at newlands reflecting on life with a sausage bap, cup of tea, and a cracking bike.

Back on the Versys, with its squidgy seat and squidgy suspension and squidgy brakes.

Used to be mine too, it's all ruined now. 40 and 50 limits everywhere and the road past rykas/box hill now has rear facing average cameras.Monty wrote:Ahhh my old playground. The 272 is somewhere in that picture.
Today I ruined all the hard work cleaning it, the weather this morning was shit.

It's now got a dent free front wheel, and the end of a torx drive in one of the brake disk bolts I'll sort that out of it ever stops raining.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
The Versys and AT have both been washed and the chains cleaned and lubed.
I had to take the back wheel off the AT again as the brake pad clip was loose. PITA that was.

Dark morning, wet leaf covered roads, rain, cars with lighthouse bright headlights.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
From the years of commuting I did, riding in those conditions taught me a healthy level of fear with wet leaves. The only things which make it worse are heavy rain and/or fog.
No conditions when in a car match the level f poor visibility like you experienced this morning. I frequently get asked by my lift share people, "how can you see where you're going"

I don't mind really heavy rain, I can ride in that.
The worst part about this morning is the fine spray on the visor. That magnifies the cars headlights and it can be blinding.

I have to admit I'm riding with a road legal tinted visor, it really helps with the headlights. Does make ita tad more challenging after dark though.Kwacky wrote:I don't mind really heavy rain, I can ride in that.

Total opposite today. Cold, clear skies, low mist.
I was fecking cold when I got into the office.

Stunning morning on the school run today, but sadly not bike related.
