:? But I thought that was precisely how we created "the british empire".? -By importing slaves, pirated plunder, & native produce from continents we pillaged. Afik all we exported in return was violence & carnage .?

We didn't import it, we stole it.

To be scrupulously fair, we stole it, subjugated it’s owners and then imported it.

In today’s parlance it would be robbery with menaces, threatening behaviour and taking away without the owners permission. (bandit)

And piece by piece gave it back/"relinquished control" in the post WW1 years all the way up to Hong Kong in '97 or '98 (or whatever).

Britain is ****!

Phonecall to HMRC yesterday and the person on the other end of the phone was using a flowchart to try and get the answer we needed. When his flowchart came to a dead end we had to give up. I am not making this up. (facepalm)

Hunt and Johnson are both saying what they think their voters want to hear. Johnson was ripped apart on Brexit the other day, he even admitted he's not sure what his plan is.

Surely the Tory party can't survive if Johnson gets in?

They are both just cowtowing to the blue rinse set who might make them PM.

The likelihood is that Parliament, given their rhetoric, will give them the boot once they become the PM.

The funnier bit is that we all knew the UK was a joke and now the world is laughing with and at us while we laugh and cry

Fwiw I don't believe he's stupid.
However he is a narcissistic oaf, and gung-ho enough with the right public image to enable him to get away with more than most other political figures.
The kipper stunt just maintains his presence in the minds of his fans imo.

He knows his audience don't care about facts and won't listen to people telling them otherwise.

Put under pressure his bluffer buffoon image wont wash with much of the electorate. And he is going to be put under a huge amount of intense scrutiny over the coming months.

I think he is very focused on being PM for his own ego. I don't believe he has any great vision for Britain, or what will be left of it. Every Govt body is predicting Brexit will be a financial disaster, worse than the banking collapse in 2008. A lot of businesses won't survive that.

I see many in his own Party reckon he wont make it to 31 October anyway.

Hopefully in a few years i might be able to escape the place for good.

The neighbour's got a new car that I want to drive,,,,,,,,,,, ;)

It seems to me that many of our problems are actually global ones.?

I see that a spokesman for the driving force behind the dissolution of the UK was on the radio this morning, pointing out that parliament's amendment yesterday is not going to prevent them from leaving anyway on 31st October.

No, it's badly worded. We leave by default on the 31st so if there isn't a deal in place then we leave on a no deal basis. All yesterday did was to make it difficult to prorogue parliament.
