New bike

Post by R1ckster »

Hi chaps.. And particularly Kwaky...

I have finally bought a new machine. After owning the 2012 800XC and having 95k miles I though best get something ready.

After hours of YouTube reviews on KTM, Yamaha, Triumph, BMW over course of maybe last two years. Decision made.

First off.. I thought I wanted a 1200 so checked out KTM 1290 and also the Tiger 1200XCA narrowed it down to the KTM.. much lighter and more powerful ... and Much cheaper...

Then thought comparing what you get for the money.. NOTHING apart from an engine and suspension. For nearly £16 no thanks..

Now down to mid size engines.. Tracer 900GT, BMW 850GS, Honda AT and ATAS.. and finally new 2019 800 XCA.

Tracer nice... Ruled out as I like to green lane and place on off road trip TET next year.

BMW.. nice bike.. more Off-road biased IMO. Also not overly in love with its style of look regard to its exhaust look and position. Ruled out.

Africa Twin.. height doesn't phase me so would be the ATAS. Love the look. Dream like tank capacity. And an engine sound to die for.. as I said about OCT last year to Kwaky. I was a cats whisker from buying it........sang nothing but praise.

But this is where it surprised me . And still cannot believe after having a Tiger 800 for 5 years have bought another.... Yes a new Tiger 800XCA. I really wanted to be convinced elsewhere.. But stock XCA has standard which the Honda doesn't.

Heated front and rear seats.
Customisable TFT display
Cruise control
Twin Aux power sockets
Spot lamps
Centre Stand
Full size off-road foot pegs
Backlight switchgears.
Brembo front brakes.
Dual headlamps (not one sides)

All the rest like adjustable suspension similar. Tiger WP front and rear . AT has Showa

This comparison aside ...I got at no extra cost

Full panniers and fitting.
Topbox and carriage
Triumph tank pad
Upper engine (fuel tank protection bars)
Back rest for topbox

AND....... £750 clothing voucher

So triumph has got me once more. grrrrrrr.

Photos below.. ImageImageImageImage. Collect in couple weeks awaiting luggage set and upper engine bars

Panniers photo just example stock photo.ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Haha thanks mate.. yeah this one is a keeper not going to run into the ground this time.. hopefully. I've yet another 70k in the current bike hopefully . Never thought I'd be one of those types to own two of the same bike at the same time ImageImageImageImageImage

It's a better bike than the 1200 version.

I keep telling my other mate that . But he insists on getting 1200.. albeit I did say he probably could do with the help of an extra bit of torque... Image

Congratulations. Sounds like you got a bargain.

My mate said that the Tiger is selling well

Will your dealer do a swap for a Versys 650?

Cheers but a Tiger 800 is pretty much bang in between the Versys and the ATAS. I might consider one if I ever want to drop down to 2 bikes.

The Tiger 800 is all 3 of your bikes... Commuter, ATAS and you F3 800 engine (y)

Just buy two of the Tigers so you always have one available. I'm such a problem solver

To be fair.. I think I'd shag most of the Jeremy Kyle guests rather than Gemma Collins - she's a complete oxygen and food thief!

My ex girlfriend was half italian and wowzer..

You're more likely to go down a dirt track with Collins, I'll give you that.

So what's the plan? Keep the current Tiger for commuting and use the new one for fun?
