Tuneboy is a piece of software that with a paid for key, you could load or alter your bikes fuelling/ignition map, I’ve used it on a couple of bikes and it’s an easy to use piece of kit, but it’s a powerful tool, which can, if used incorrectly, destroy an engine in seconds.
TuneEcu effectively does the same job, with the same risks, but came later and was free to download and use.
Triumph I know encrypted the majority of their ECU’s from 2012 onward to prevent access to their ECU’s by both pieces of software, coming as a result of damaged engines that may have had non-oem maps loaded when damaged, but the oem map subsequently being reloaded, then an engine being claimed for on warranty. In short, it cost Triumph money, so they put a stop to it.
