Re: The Pet Thread
As much as you are disappointed with the delay, it’ll be better off her settling in well and happy.

Re: The Pet Thread

Been to see her again today. I went with my wife. I think my wife is a bit more taken with her now.

Re: The Pet Thread
So I picked Bella up on Friday. I had hoped to get some work done in the afternoon but the poor thing was very stressed and anxious, panting and pacing about. I thought she was house trained as she used the garden when I brought her home, but we've had a few accidents. I'm sure we can sort it out as she can sleep through the night without any issues.
She's calming down as she gets used to the house. We've limited her to just downstairs for now. I'm not bothered if she does or doesn't go upstairs. At the moment the cat and dog are being kept apart, but they've seen each other.
Overall she's doing well. She can be a little bit skittish when she's unsure what to do and there are signs of nerves when you raise your voice or move suddenly towards her.
At least we've got a decent guard dog - there's a proper bark when someone knocks on the door.

I’m sure in the stable caring environment you are giving her she’ll get her confidence sooner than you think.

Re: The Pet Thread
I'm surprised at how well she's doing considering what we know she's been through, let alone what went on before she was kicked out on the streets.
She's letting you fuss her, she doesn't mind your head being close to hers (a real no-no if the dog isn't comfortable) and she's been playing games with me which includes play biting my hand which dogs can use to get to know one another.
We've got time for her and us to adjust.

I’ll second that!
Sounds like your family and Bella are taking to one another really well, proper jealous here.
