It's also where the Red Arrows are based.

Ooops!!
A quick check tells me the Dambusters Squadron is still going strong, and based in one of the Carolinas.

Last I heard they were waiting for good weather before bringing the new Lightnings home. Apparently no one want to fly a single engined aeroplane over the Atlantic anymore.

So the RAF stays home ehen it's raining, is that it??

Re: The home of the Dambusters to close
Just checked, it was back in June and at least 4 of them are here now. And yes they canceled due to single engine in bad weather, but it's not like it was a critical mission. Makes sense when you think about it.

Re: The home of the Dambusters to close
Proper shame they are closing it. My nan, when she was alive used to live near it and they were extremely happy with their local squadron. Her neighbours son was part of the Red Arrows and she knew a fair few RAF guys from their Squadron. Proper shame.
This was their memorial their little sleepy village.

Is it me....or does that memorial resemble a breached dam with the centerstone representing a torrent of water??
Or did I just win this week's prize for stating the fcuking obvious??

Should've put a little 'Angel Of The North' statue next to it!!
