That sounds cheap to me. I think there's a lot to be done at the 12k service. It should be a one day job.

He did say that would be oil, coolant, clutch fluid, brake fluid and all filters, not booked in till 2pm so it can't be an all day thing, if you think the price is reasonable that's fine just wasn't prepared for it.

12k on Jap models normally includes valve clearances aslo, it was £348 on the ninja, and that was after shopping around quite alot, Honda dealer qouted me £500 for 12k service

There should be a list somewhere what needs doing at 12k.

Is the bike still in warranty? If not is it worth trying an independent?

Yeah, but he's probably got a fairly decent "regular customer" discount by now ;0;)

Took the forks off the blackbird and took them to get new seals. Noticed a crack in the nose cone :@

Bled the brakes a little off the master cylinder. Took some air out but they're still a bit spongy. Either I need to do a full bleed (probably) or the longer twin lines are giving me a different feel (also likely). I'll wait for the new pads then see how they feel. They're stopping the bike but I do like rock solid brakes.

If you have replaced everything its probably going to take a few goes to get rid of all the air in the system, Kwacky.

It probably has no relevance Kwacky, but just in case....

I brought a set of aftermarket levers for a bike once, and after fitting them I noticed that the bake was spongy.
I proceeded to strip down & rebuild the master cylinder & calipers.
I fitted Hel braided brake lines.
I totally evacuated the fluid & refilled with brand new top spec Dot 5.1
I bled the system numerous times.
I still had a spongy feeling front brake .? :@

I re-fitted the OEM lever, and hey-presto ; rock solid (on off switch type) brake lever.

I still haven't figured how that lever does it, it looks to work in exactly the same way (but obviously doesn't).

Duke, that's what I'm thinking. Use it and force the air out.

StMarks, I have had the same in the past. This bike has an after market lever but it's the same master cylinder. I have got a spare aftermarket m/c but I'm not sure if I want to fit it. I'll see how the brakes are after a couple of weeks.

Have you got a mix of dot4 and 5.1 in it? That might not help.

Otherwise a full fluid change. Problem is there are loads if variables so as st marks says you have to follow a list I guess..

It's brand new lines and reservoir, so I doubt there's a mix. I've bleed from both calipers and the master cylinder.

I'll sort it. I think it needs a couple of goes after use.

Brakes felt much better this morning. There's still a little bit of sponginess but I reckon one more bleed will sort that.

Took the Multi out for an evening thrash. (devil)

I know i've said it before but it really is the best time to be out on a bike. Not much traffic and no scamera vans.

Just have to keep an eye out for Plod in the car as they suddenly seem to be out and about when everyone else is at home.
