Opinions please...

Post by Itchy »

I just took off my old indicators and realised that before I got the new ones I should address what I thought was a small amount of rust on the tail tidy.

(wait)

It would appear that the rust is slightly more widespread than I first thought...

So, is it worth me trying to remove the rust, prime it and re-paint it? I only need a can of primer, I already have the paint.
Or would you say it's beyond saving and I should get on t'internet?

It depends on how much you like it and how soon you need the bike back in action.

I would order the evotech linked by duke... I like evotech products, never had an issue with one.

Buy the Evotech unit, fit it and be riding for next weekend. 8)

Then take the old unit into work, get it refurbished at taxpayers expense and fit it back on when you flog the bike, then sell the Evotech unit separately. (y)

Thanks for the ideas gents.

Unfortunately the Evotech one takes the OEM indicators, which are somewhere in a landfill by now!

To answer your question Blade, it's from SP Engineering, one of these...
http://www.spengineering.co.uk/kawasaki ... -tidy.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

For 3 years the bike wasn't garaged, it's suffered in places because of it. Although I wasn't expecting it to be quite so bad.

So I had a go at tidying it up, only to find out that my Dremel is f**ked! (facepalm)

As a stop gap I may just get one of these to tide me over...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Kawasaki-Z1000 ... /909665263" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
...and then have a play with the old one at my leisure as suggested.

Thanks all. (y)

Itchy, don't take a dremel to it! DeeGee was on the money. There will be a sand blaster on your base somewhere, just find out where and the correct currency for a favour. Then a good prime and paint or as Perkles said get it powder coated.
Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.

I'll look into it mate, but I'm teaching solid for the next few weeks so to get it back on the road I'll have to go for the stop gap measure.
