to answer my own question it appears that Scott has the 2nd Aprilia next year and Lowes is out of a job .

***latest update is Rabat is in talks with Avintia , which means Lowes may have a shot at the Marc VDS ride .***

I don't think Lowes is up to Motogp unfortunately.

He's not really had a fair crack at it , it's widely accepted that he has been on inferior machinery to his team mate all season and it is his first season . That said he crashes too often for my liking
