Impressive though. The programming was clearly spot on.

Insanely impressive. I like the bit about them pretending to have interest in something to pawn it in negotiations at a later time.

The danger comes when or if they incorporate some machine learning into operating systems themselves. An AI virus or something that upsets the routing on the internet for example in the interests of 'efficiency' could permanently disrupt the internet as if it works out how to spread and adapt would be nigh on impossible to stop.

By all accounts it's not as bad as everyone is making out. The new language was just a form of shorthand.

Makes sense I suppose....written languages have too many nuances that can have different meanings/contexts....a binary language gets rid of any margin for error

My thinking as well, he did a great job for LoR, he could bring that experience to bear in a proper version of the Dune trilogy.

I saw the De Laurentis offering when it came out and was really disappointed, modern CGI and blue screen methods could make Dune on the big screen properly epic.

I think it's pretty impressive. We rely a lot on the machines and as we keep pushing the boundaries of what's possible for machines the more likely we are to let them do more for us. We already have machines producing machines it only takes these machines to start to talk to one another and becomong 'aware of eachother' they could do literally anything!

Frank Herbert was the dead giveaway as much as anything.
I think Dune is a dead issue, although I seem to remember the TV show was decentish??
But yeah...Peter Jackson would be perfect to inject a bit of new life into it....the original movie was a fcuking disaster....I think even the director didn't even want his name on it, so they stuck a pseudonym on there...or sommit like that. Either way it bombed.

Probably because it sucked.
