I use the word "hate" very cautiously, but I hate that woman. She's the embodiment of everything that's rotten in the main stream media.

Re: Brexit thread
"They" need to be very careful with that before the next election. You could see large groups of voters going to parties like Reform UK. We're still a single-issue voting public.

Re: Brexit thread
They do need to be careful.
But what was a vote winner in Brexit is fast becoming a vote loser. That fact changes everything.

Re: Brexit thread
This beggars belief.
Now the idiots realise NI probably would already have a 51% majority if they seek reunification of Ireland they are running scared.
My understanding of the Good Friday agreement is that the UK and Irish government can have no involvement in it.

Re: Brexit thread
It didn't need a super majority because it was only advisory.
The Tories panicked and decided to make it binding.

Re: Brexit thread
I saw that. Was waiting for the wave of gammons stating that "this isn't the Brexit I voted for" and "what gives them the right to control us coming into their country", finished with "the government needs to sort this out"Kwacky wrote:Daily Mail out rage at countries protecting their borders

It seems like the current political approach is to Gaslight us ..
All Politicians simply ignore concerns & talk up everything (/or talk up improvements they will make, depending on their allegiances) .

Re: Brexit thread
The latest figures show we are 28th in the World GDP rankings
We have dropped below India.
The Netherlands has taken over from London as the leading Stock Exch in Europe.

Re: Brexit thread
To be fair, the UK experienced slightly above average growth in GDP over the last year or two....India's GDP growth has been substantial to say the least....and with their vast population, it seems inevitable that they'd start catching up with the rest of the world sooner rather than later.

Why is the Government still cowtowing to the xenophobic mob? Its obvious Brexit is affecting the UK economy badly.

Because "the people" were told in advance that they were free to vote as they wanted, and that whatever they chose would be honoured.??duke63 wrote: ↑17 Sep 2024, 07:17 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd988p00z1no

Democracy is only ever going to work well if the society that implements it, has the integrity & investiture necessary to properly consider the decisions required from it.
With increasing proportions of the population becoming addicted to tablets/phones, and being drip fed insidious facebook influences, we are fast approaching an Idiocracy.
Democracy in it's current form is evidently no longer fit for purpose. Brexshit is a good example.

Re: Brexit thread
Not true
It was an advisory referendum, not a binding one. The Supreme Court said if it was binding it would have been over turned by the courts.
The Tories panicked at the next general election and said they would convert the vote result into law.
