Droning on and on.

So nearly 24 hours later, what appears to be one **** with a drone still has a major UK airport at a standstill.

And the Govt response is to call the Army in.

In Fairness the Government, Police and Airport are doing all they can to stop and catch the offender and keep passengers safe. It hasn't been ignored or a slow response . I guess it's a difficult and dynamic situation and not black and white.

The disappointing part for me is how yet again Airlines are poor at looking after upset customers who they have a responsibility to look after, provide food, shelter and onward travel for.

It's a security issue, so I guess it would be germane to let security experts - in some cases the Police - or the army, if there's a perceived threat involving explosives, etc., "do their thing", yes??

The public can complain all they want, but they'll complain a lot more if the threat turns out to be real.....well, some of them will...some won't be able to.

It distracts us all from the real news

I find it hard to believe that drones alone could cause so much disruption for so long. Why were planes diverted to other airports and then the passengers kept on the plane for up to 6 hours with no one telling them what was gong on?

We’ve got the solution here and it was used during the Commonwealth Games, but due to legislation it currently can’t be used in the UK

I see the cnuts in Parliament were laughing and joking when they broke up for Xmas yesterday.

Most of them should be told to stand down or be forcibly removed from office. They are a disgrace to the Country and not fit to be in such a privileged position.

There is a company in the UK that has designed a net system that brings drones down safely. It's apparently illegal to bang drones down though as they are classified as aircraft. If that's the case then the law is an ass.

Just another example of outdated political and legislative processes not keeping up with the pace of technology.

I fly a drone, they are a great bit of kit and I have gone to great lengths to ensure I fly it responsibility. There is apps that give easy reference to controlled airspace and where and when you can’t fly. My house is in a corridor for the nearby RAAF base so technically can’t fly it here. I do, but stay below tree height generally.

I would think the politicians everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief that it was not a terrorist situation in the end.

What is the betting on similar copycat happenings around the world now.

What do you mean??....This one was a copycat event!!

It was either Venezuela or Bolivia....or some other S. American country, just a few months ago (I think??). Drones carrying explosives into the middle of a military parade.
Or something like that. I'm almost certain.

Avenida Bolivar, Caracas, Venezuela, Aug.4th 2018. Drones carrying explosives targeting the President.

Gatwick flights are suspended again.

This threat is not new, drugs are flown into UK prisons every day using drones. It's worrying. Imagine a drone carrying explosives flying into a football stadium. Live TV coverage, 70,000 people, potentional multiple blast fatalities and very likely thousands injured in panic and crushing.

Police have now admitted there might not even have been a drone.

And arrested, questioned and released two people who they thought were responsible for the non existent drone.

**** me we are in trouble if Russia decides to send in a squadron of model aircraft.

(shake) They don't even need to do anything so proactive Duke.
- Just skew the results of some referendums, then sit back & let us do it all for them without them even raising alarm. (happy)
