Still not sure about electric vehicles

It's the most powerful street-legal car ever to come out of Italy. And when your competitors include Ferrari and Lamborghini, that's some badge of honour.

..

So, here are some stats. Maker Automobili Pininfarina claims its Battista does 0-62mph in less than two seconds, 186mph in less than 12 seconds, has a top speed of more than 250mph, and does 280 miles on one charge.
I doesn't look bad either..

It looks a lot like the Saleen S7.
That sort of top speed is insane for a road car.

10 seconds to double the max speed limit. Insane.

It looks good as well.

I won't read the article while in work but I'm guessing it costs a bit more than a Fiesta?

£2 million. So yes, it's a touch more than a Fiesta, or even an Escort XR-3.

I'm guessing it doesn't have a 280 mile range at 250mph, but it's amazing just how far they have come in the last 10 years.

That there is their version of the H2, it’s screaming “Look at what we can achieve!” to everyone that sees it and reads about it. It’s also a notice to quit for combustion engined cars of a similar class, that’s if they didn’t get the message from the Tesla sport or the BMW I8 that is. Just a shame they can’t make it sound classy.

The BMW i8 is such a terrible car on every level!!

Crap around corners - because they gave it skinny eco tyres
Crap in a straight line - because neither the petrol or electric motors are powerful
Crap at economy - most owners were reporting less real world MPG than they would get from an M3 (which is better at practicality, performance, economy, cornering and everything else)

Does this electric car thing remind anyone of the Jaguar CX75?

I don't think the i8 looks that bad??

The arse-end is a bit busy, but other than that it's not a bad looking car at all.

Looks wise it looked futuristic when it came out but I saw one a few weeks back and thought it had aged very badly. Also, the back end is the bit I like because of the air channels making the lights into 3D eyebrows

I think they also funnel air down into the back to cool the batteries.....I seem to remember reading that- or it was on TV.

I'm a big fan of the CX75, which is one of the reasons I bought an F-Type if i'm honest. I looked at getting a CX75 as there are a few prototypes for sale, but they vary in terms of engine and quality - Some have a V8, some have a williams derived hybrid system. Originally it was going to have gas turbine too.

I've driven the i8 - piped engine noise. Nope.

Ever been in one Cav. My mate had one. Trust me it certainly isn't sluggish. And it sounds incredible. Kicks you back into your seat and also sharp brakes. Maybe not the best best best car but my mate enjoyed it and wheb it goes into sport mode it shifts

I'll try to find a couple of pics

If this area is blank that means I can't find them in my phone then it means I've dreamt it.....

I have got another one from inside but it's showing my mates face. Best not show it on a public forum...prob break the internet ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Looks good....not great, but good. Gull-wing doors are utterly pointless though, unless you're using the car to shoot a rap video.

I always associate gull wing doors with doors that open from the roof

This kind of thing:

Butterfly doors, vertical doors, scissor doors, etc. I'm sure you're right....I don't follow cars that much, TBH.
The DeLorean had them....big, heavy, & useless. Like the rest of the car, TBH....it was a total POS.

I've not been in one but I've seen them gun it and I wasn't impressed. I'm pretty sure an X5 M50d would keep with it to be honest.

I know it's horses for courses etc but I just don't like them nor really understand the appeal of them. I'd choose an S4 Avant over one of those every day of the week - I'd even choose a 340d estate over one of those haha

That's fair enough mate. But those cars aren't electric, the i8 is going to where we will need to be soon. Electric cars aren't for me to be honest nor estates, I'm more into hot hatches lol!

The i8 (in my opinion) is completely ass about face.

It isn't an electric car and I think it's speed limited for electric motor use plus it would only do a dozen electric only miles.

Also... I see BMWs as the same as Apple. They're all about image, marketing and beating the Jones'.

I can see my opinions may grate with people so sorry in advance :D
