I recovered from the last knee injury 12 months ago, then I got concussion last June and I'm mostly recovered from that (probably 95%).

Had X-rays and the doctor is now looking at them. Been told it's PCL and ACL with possible MCL damage too. I did a good'un.

Likely leaving shortly. Going to try and put me in a cricket-splint (if that's even a thing) and crutches. Going to put me in for an urgent MRI which he thinks will be next week but we will wait and see on that.

PCL injuries are rare but likely to be weeks rather than months to recover. Again, we will wait and see
Mate if you just wanted the Friday off so you could have a long weekend there are easier ways around it, pulling a sickie doesn't really force you to get yourself into a sitiation, usually all you gotta do is cough down the phone a few times and say how crap you feel and you hope to be well enough to be back in on the Monday......Image

Oh Cav you bloody muppet ;(

Silver lining it happened AFTER your recent trip. Little comfort at the moment though no doubt.

Hope the fix/recovery is as quick and smooth as possible.

So it goes to show what can transpire in a week.

After the dramas with Byron last week I’ve went full Dad mode to help him.

We are now in a good space. Two kids that were terrorising him at school have been suspended. Another that it turns out was constantly telling him to kill himself (now know where those thoughts came from) has been reprimanded and on notice of a suspension as well. All three of these kids were doing other things other than hassling Byron that have landed them in their predicaments.

Byron saw out his week ban on electronics and is on an even stricter than previous useage agreement.

I changed out his single car racing bed he’s been in since three and had totally out grown (feet off the end) took a lot of convincing as he’s resistant to change, but he’s now in the double bed from the spare room with a new Fortnite themed duvet.

I got an emergency therapy session with his shrink and did a suicide risk assessment with him and developed a few more stratigies off that.

I’m pleased to say his behaviour this week (even before getting electronics back) now is the best it’s ever been, he feels happier at school, and was grinning like a maniac when he went to bed last night and was still smiling this morning with the new bedroom setup.
Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.

Top work, kiwi.

Being a parent is the hardest thing any of us will probably ever do. Being a parent with a child who doesn't fit the conditioned 'norm' is more than doubly difficult.

The only 'training' we get is being the pawn as our parents make the decisions ( good and bad) as we grow up.

Nice one for getting the school sorted out kiwi. I know from when James has had a challenging time at school how much that affects home life.

Also full respect for managing the change of beds, that can be very traumatic but you seem to have managed to turn it into a positive.

Fingers crossed this is the start of an up period and you can have a bit of time to recover from the stress

Wow - that sounds like hard work, but well done sir. Kids can be little bstards, telling him to kill himself - outrageous!

Cheers guys. Last week really brought me unstuck. It was the first time I felt like I was failing him. But I’ve also got to get used to the fact he’s growing up and the challenges are getting harder and more complex. I can just do my best and hope it is enough.

Silly things like giving him an adult bed will make massive difference to his self esteem. It shows you recognise he's growing up and becoming his own person. A change like that sounds like it's come at a good time if things are better at school.

I'm still after one of those racing car beds if it needs a new home?
It's got to be red though....I never liked the blue ones.

After a good start with MiL NHS care, we are now saying the shitty completely disorganised money-wasting side.

She was told to be at New Cross for 8.30 this morning for three lots of blood.

Gets there to be told it will only be one lot and it hasn't even arrived yet. (facepalm)

Good perspective Kwackster, never considered that. It was more practical for me. Didn’t fit in his and I had a spare double. It was actually the bed I bought when I moved into the spare room when things went south with the ex.

Kiwi.

Jeez mate sounds like tough going recently. Glad those wa*&kstains ar3 out of school there is no need for anyone to be bullying anyone else for any reasons. Hope they learn their lessons. Byron sounds like he's in a lot more of a better place now and that's down to you for doing a stand up job, following the right paths and getting everything sorted.

But one thing.....what's wrong with having a race car bed?!

Absolutely nothing at all. Better yet if you can hook up a TV & PS-4 in front of it for some serious Gran Turismo fun.

A mate of mine did a bedroom for a rich Arab’s lad in London, he bought and gutted a real Ferrari to make the bed. Ferrari completely disassociated themselves from the project unsurprisingly. The Arab concerned wouldn’t sell the engine/trans either which was in the garage of the house, nothing else they’d removed, just the power plant.

This was back in the 80’s btw, just to put it in perspective. :D
