Showa is standard i think. It might mean this has the Big Piston forks though which supposedly are a big improvement.

I'm going to look at a ZX9R to add to my stable. Any current or ex owners here with any tips on what to be aware of?

Not much really, just the usual signs of trackday/racing use. Engines are solid. Find out if the suspension has been refreshed or upgraded.

Big piston forks came in on the R series model (2009) and showa is stock.

Front suspension is stunning.

It will be gone buy the time I get back there, they turn over around 150 bikes a month. Give them a call, ask for Steve (Scottish Steve) and ask him to email you the originals they took for the web site.

Just to let you know my rc8 had expensive wp forks fitted and the Kawasaki bpf,s feel miles better
It's not hype they feel solid and plush ,no dive or wallowing just nice and controlled

Showa BPF forks on the ZX10R were rated by Micheal Rutter on a test at Mallory for PB Mag as brilliant.

He asked what mods had been done to them and when Johnny Mac said they were standard he was blown away and remeber Rutter has raced on £10,000 Ohlins gas forks

One of the suspension guys told me I would have to spend a fortune on the front forks to improve them and he doubted I would notice.

Make sure it's one of the newer models with all the electric gimmicks. Mine doesn't have traction control etc. The new ones do.
