Insurance time

MCE sent me a letter but no renewal quote. They've just called.

Although what they offer sounds good when you look closely it's not that great,

Free leathers and lid cover. Great. But it's limited to £350 and there's £100 excess. A lid costs £250 on average.

Courtesy bike if you have a crash. But it's a 125cc and you can't have it for more than 5 days.

Free breakdown cover. Provided you're at least a mile from home. They'll spend an hour fixing it at the roadside then take your bike the nearest bike garage. Leaving you stranded.

Last year TPFT was £336. This year with an added year NCB it's £291.36

I think I'm going to give Carole Nash a call.

Thats what MCE tried to offer me but I just told them it wasnt good enough and for about an extra £30 they upped the helmet and leather cover to £750 and the hire bike to 650cc and change the brake down cover although cant remember the exact details. I figured it was worth it as they still worked out cheaper than most for me

I have to admit, MCE were pretty good when I wrote off my bike.

Online Carole Nash quote was £360 TPFT. I'll call them as they know all my details and I don't trust those drop box forms.

There's a guy on the PB Forum who does insurance so I've dropped him an email as well.

Anyone had any dealings with Hastings? I've just done the MCN online quote thing and they're coming in quite low, as are RAC and Churchill.

I might give them all a call over the weekend and see what's being offered.

I was gonna go with RAC as I wanted decent breakdown cover with my insurance, the price was good but when I went into the small print it was only 3 months breakdown cover ? Bennetts were slightly higher but included 12 months breakdown with RAC !!

I had Hastings on my Daytona at one point. Never had any cause to contact them after the policy though so cant say what their service is like if something goes wrong.

I hate dealing with insurance companies, back in the day I used to call into a brokers, speak to someone face to face, always a pleasure.
Now its on line and by phone, and then holding for ages and ages and ages... only to discuss some change, so the person on the other end has to then stick you on hold again for ages and ages and ages to get the answer, and still come back with it all wrong!!! Are these people really that thick! I cannot believe this, I don't want to believe this! or the cynical in mean thinks they are paid to keep me on the phone and earn revenue from the line.

And they charge a ridiculous amount for the phone call.

Silly money. Those two claims I made were on fully comp policies so no one loves me enough to want to insure me :(
