£1300 extra for a paint job and can

Honda are releasing 50 Firebaldes with a BSB paint job and carbon can. Yours for £1300 more than the list price.

Bargain at £13,499 for a bike that's 6 years old. They've not even bothered with a race screen or levers or something to make it look close to a race bike.

Its still the best selling litre bike out there so i guess as long as Honda can sell them, they wont bother changing them.

it doesn't appear to be a match for the current crop of litre sportsbikes , but 18 months ago it won BSB and won both superbike and senior at this years TT so its still a bloody good bike.

It's a well designed bike. That's probably why it's not needed upgrading for sometime, like the 600rr.

Its each to their own i guess.

It doesn't float my boat but it obviously still appeals to a lot of buyers as a top sportsbike that you can commute and tour on too.

Not being funny but the paint job seems a tad boring to me! Although I still want a Blade, doesn't bother me about the latest gizmos etc just a reliable bike that is a pleasant ride. Blades offer that exact thing

No bargain but they will sell and that's all Honda are bothered about.

The Blade desperately needs a major update as everyone suggests and I'm sure will agree. What really screw's this up is as Duke says its still the best selling litre sports bike so I guess Honda are thinking why bother (facepalm)

He said litre bike, which I why I tried to draw him out. The best selling litre bike for 2014 is the z1000sx.

I'm trying to find sports bike stats. There seems to be some differences in opinion. Honda always top the charts for bike sales but most of that is due to the smaller cc bikes they sell.

Sales figures are here, Kwacky and you are right in that the Z1000SX is the best selling sport/tour bike. But the best selling over 1000cc machine is still the BMW 1200GS. BMW seem to sell a huge number of these machines.

The good news though is that the best selling supersport bike is actually a 125cc Yamaha which even outsold the Z1000SX which can only be good for the future of biking.

Let's hope those stats help inject some energy into the Honda Fireblade team and they get a new model out soon as its desperately needed to keep pace with current models from Competitors.

I think all the manufacturers have been guilty of charging silly money for a paint job. Classic way of extending the run of a bike before an upgrade. Hopefully!

Tbh a top quality paint job from the likes of Altamura is going to be north of £2000 so in that case £1300 doesn't seem too bad. However saying that, knowing dealers and the price point its probably by dream machine who I wouldn't let paint my shed never mind my bike.
