It seems to me that for democracy to work, it needs to have the confidence of the electorate. When the voters don't feel that their vote is worthwhile, the government it delivers ceases to be something they feel legitimately subscribed to.

They'll be too busy with office party piss ups & shopping to be bothered with irrelevant stuff like the future direction of our country's outlook.
The fact that we therefore probably deserve the outcome brexit will deliver, makes it no more palatable to me personally.

Bad timing & I for one don't want one. However the current government is unable to pursue it's intentions, and believe an election will deliver them the opportunity to do so.
That is the only reason they have called the election.
They have even intentionally timed it so that students are unlikely to be able to vote.

You mean the election that takes place before the criminal proceedings against the Leave campaign and the election before the release of the Russian involvement into Brexit and the last general election?

The actual physical direct cost for Brexit so far is about £2bn. The £78bn is lost trade, reduction on GDP, movement of jobs, etc.
