Fully agree we only have ourselves to blame.Kwacky wrote:Thatcher told the public that a man using public transport to get to work is a failure.
We've also been conditioned to believe that nationalised is expensive and something unions and socialists demand.
Our privately owned transport costs the government billions.
So it's not the fault of the EU we do or do not have a decent transport system. The blame lies at our own door.

We both totally agree that being a member of the EU hasn't made british transport better mate.Blade wrote:So we agree the EU hasn't made British transport better ....
There are many things that the EU would choose to implement that we prefer to "do our own way thankyou ,,,"
For example one has to wonder why so many migrants try so desperately to cross the channel to live under our system, rather than stay in the countries on the European side of the water.?
Because it's so much more efficient under our government.???

Yes I'm on holiday Nutz and havent read everything, guilty as charged, string me up.
However to be fair your being very selective as I have agreed with alot you have said, so not sure why the attack tbh.
Just had a quick look at your link (dont want you upset ) and whilst I wont profess to have absorbed all the detail. If your argument is the EU have contributed to UK transport projects, the bit you miss is we contribute much more to the EU than we ever receive back in grants so that argument is very weak.
We can have different opinions and live in harmony can we not?

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you about the state of public transport in this country. I spent 2 years at the mercy of it.Blade wrote:Yes I'm on holiday Nutz and havent read everything, guilty as charged, string me up.

It had just been said that the EU had not helped us in any way, so I just provided an example of where they had. There are €28bn with of examples on that page
Any how, enjoy your holiday in Europe mate, it may be a lot harder to do that soon

Re: This is the sort of politics we need
I will mate. Apparently it might be my last trip to Europe for a holiday according to some people so I better make the most of it.
If I have to get a permit or Visa to travel in the future, well that's me stuck in manchester forever.

Interesting interview with Gorbachev.
I wonder how long before someone with this view gets elected to lead a big Country which can change things?

Re: This is the sort of politics we need
totally this.... I've always been amazed from as soon as I could fathom it, that the world economy is built on growth, even as a youngster I could see that wasn't sustainable. It's a pyramid scheme on a grand scale and like a pyramid scheme it favours the few at the top to the expense of those further down.duke63 wrote:Interesting interview with Gorbachev.

I'm as guilty as the next person of consumerism, but as I get older my dream is to be self sufficient for all my needs and living far more simply.

Re: This is the sort of politics we need
You know, from a perspective of world hunger/undernourished, etc.....the rates have gone from @ 15% in 2000, to @ 10% in 2016 (or 2017...I forget).
Either way, if Gorby wants to start throwing numbers around, the number is less than 800 million....not "billions" as he states.
The way I read it, we're getting better at handling a growing population, not worse.

Oh well then if it’s only 800 million starving it’s barely worth worrying about then is it?D41 wrote:You know, from a perspective of world hunger/undernourished, etc.....the rates have gone from @ 15% in 2000, to @ 10% in 2016 (or 2017...I forget).
