Re: This is the sort of politics we need
I didn't write starving, I wrote about hunger & malnourishment.
The UN estimates@ 9.1 million people die of starvation every year. No-one's suggesting it's not worth worrying about, but the figures being bandied about are wildly off-kilter by a large order of magnitude. That's not the way to address the problem, not by any stretch.

Exactly this.kiwikrasher wrote:totally this.... I'm not going to disagree too much, as I may have mentioned something similar myself, occasionally.?
The planet & ecosystem can cope with this human infestation, just as long as we address the population levels. That is what we need to address as a priority, anything else is window dressing.
Isn't that rather like; We are getting better at coping with a disaster, rather than looking at reducing/preventing it ?D41 wrote:...The way I read it, we're getting better at handling a growing population, not worse.

I've done my bit
The M4 is now a 3 litre twin turbo instead of a 4 litre V8 naturally aspirated.
It's also faster and a lower tax bracket win win, save the planet and do it quickly with a big smile all across your boat race

But haven't you gone from a 6 cylinder n/a to a 6 cylinder turbo? So you haven't done anything other than add components?

You Hooligan!
I have to be honest, I don't like the sound of them :/ Don't know why, it just doesn't resonate with me
I'd quite like to have a Golf R estate or S4 Avant personally

Bristol council just announced they are to ban all diesel cars from the City centre by 2021.
Change is coming.

Well then, what do you suggest? The UK's population is growing at a faster rate than that of China at the moment (so is the U.S.'s - among many others). I honestly don't know how we're suddenly a "disaster" or "infestation"...??

No plan to change to electric buses though, not even a mention - bloody hypocrites. The amount of smoke coming from those is disgusting and having cycled through cities before I find myself holding my breath past them.duke63 wrote:Bristol council just announced they are to ban all diesel cars from the City centre by 2021.

There's no "suddenly" about it.. I noticed this when I was 13 and for a long time thought I wouldn't have children to do my bit to save the planet.D41 wrote:I honestly don't know how we're suddenly a "disaster" or "infestation"...??

Do you still think you not having children will "save the planet"???

I think it probably is right but I will still probably do it anyway because I want a family.
If everyone stuck to 2 kids or less the problems would begin to revert

On a serious point - population control is and should be required.
