At least you can be sat in your leathers during your appraisal ready to turn the key and burn some fossils!

Would a redundancy be the worst way to leave?

I guess the flip side is finding more work atm would be tough

That's the problem, no jobs. I've been looking for months and so far found 3 I could apply for. 1 of those said they're but going to recruit but left the advert to run to see what the response was.

Well I've not got the sack.

My boss doesn't think they'll be any redundancies in our sector but obviously can't promise anything as she really doesn't know what the plans are. She feels that there's certainly enough work to do.

It was a full and frank chat that went on for over 90 minutes. I had to be diplomatic as I don't want to talk myself out of a job.

It might not be ideal, but at the moment it's a job and that counts for. a lot. I don't think I'd want to be changing at the moment, a lot of redundancies can be last in first out as it's cheaper.

As for me, I'm feeling like a pig in sh!t at the moment. A very tired pig in sh!t...

A really technically challenging project where we get to run the show, the deadlines are there and tight but there is already talk of extensions until the end of next year. This combined with the highest rate I've ever earned and the fact I'll be come a team lead with 2 developers working for me, and in a tier 1 bank... It doesn't get much better.

Getting frustrated! Still on part time, its a nightmare trying to cram it all in.... Yesterday was full of skype meetings leaving no time to do any actual work ha ha..... Long call with a client about a number of jobs....normally I would action what i need to do the next day, as our chat was well after 5.30.... then call again with my updates. Trouble is I am not back until Tuesday!! following up 3 working days is not acceptable.

I've been asked to increase to 4 days a week starting next month, which is good news.

The extra day will be Fridays, which is a pain but there's no cover for that day so at least I'll be left alone. I might ask about going in on Fridays

As of the 1st I will be up to three days a week, it will go up in due course, it will have to do for now. Need it, spent the afternoon out on site today, so with the travelling there and back, and not being able to check in other visits on route its a lot of time just driving.... and shocker the roads are busy and full of twats lol......

Happy for things to be increasing for you Frankie. It's frustrating when you see a lot of time being wasted though. Besides working for free there's nothing you can do about that.

My appraisal was more of a goal setting exercise. Something I've not seen before is my Manager not throwing all the tasks he can at me. He gave me 3 projects and knew they'd be more than enough for the year. This bloke is actually a Manager, I've never been managed by a proper one before!

Yeah I think so. This place is very quirky, for such a huge company I was expecting process after process to hurdle over but it isn't like that. It's so chilled but as a newbie that makes it quite difficult because I don't yet know the ins and outs of how everything works.

But yeah, for so many reasons this job has really worked out for me :)

You managing to maintain good relationships with your overseas suppliers though all this? I know you used to travel quite frequently to see them.

Glad you have been able to maintain employment mate.
