Look at the front pages on most papers and websites and this barely features but its far more important than anything else that might be on any of them.

Have you watched Our Planet?
It's heart breaking what we're doing to this place.

We are destroying our only life source at an alarming rate.

Re: Attenborough's warning on climate change
I don't think there's much that we can do about it, to be honest. We're only as good as our weakest link...and that weak link is most of the world. North America, Europe, & Australia etc. can make a half-hearted effort to be conscientious all they want, but it won't make a ha'peth of difference long-term. Especially not in light of what goes on in Asia.....China & India have about 2.5 billion people to feed, and they don't have the luxury of a conscience as to how they do it.
Best we could possibly ever hope for is a delaying tactic that "might" stave off the inevitable for a while, but only a finite period at best.
The end is nigh.

If you want to don your tinfoil hat there's a lot of good evidence to suggest that the oil and other resource companies are all in favour of global warming as it makes exploration of the polar regions much easier for mining.
The ice reflects 90% of the suns energy back out to space. If we lose the ice, the earth heats up much faster.
We're essentially cooking the planet.

Re: Attenborough's warning on climate change
"The power of population is superior to the power of the Earth to sustain it".....or something like that. - That's a rough quote from around two hundred years ago, so it's not like we weren't given a heads-up.
Around 10 billion people is what experts reckon the planet can sustain before we reach critical mass & die out. Except for rock....rock will never die!!

Re: Attenborough's warning on climate change
Imagine if we had 10 billion people on this earth. Maybe enough room but governments wouldn't knoe what to do with them all. We wouldn't have anymore greenery around us it would just be tower blocks.. the world is in s sorry state, I doubt we have the balls to do much more about it.
People speak a big game but - they can't even sort of Brexit, no one will be able to sort out the world.

Well...I don't know - and all you're going to get is best guestimates from those that are supposed to know. I'd think that those predictions are all mostly based upon technology as it exists today....rather than how we will progress in an as-yet undetermined future.

Re: Attenborough's warning on climate change
It needs younger people to have a say in our future. It's them who will have to deal with it at some point.
As land becomes more precious, not just financially but as a place to actually live, war to fight over it will become more prevalent.
Greenland has had rain in the middle of winter this year which is unheard of. As that ice melts, more and more land will disappear under water.
