The dark side of the moon

Post by duke63 »

It’s never occurred to me until today that we only ever see one side of the moon.

And it’s because as it rotates around the earth every 27 days, it spins on its own axis once in that 27 days. So we always see the same face.

Apparently eventually the earth’s rotation around the sun will slow down so much that only one side of earth ever sees daylight.

Does the moon rotate in the mirrored direction to Earth?

I'm aware we always see the same face of the moon here in the UK but didn't know if you see a different side depending on your location on Earth???

The moon effectively rolls around the earth so it's always the same face for all i understand.

Pink Floyd worked all that out :D

It's a horrible album. :D

Sorry...but I hated it. I'm very on/off about their stuff. Artsy-fartsy music.

Animals was probably the latest of their albums I liked. The Wall has a couple of decent tracks (Mother and Don't Leave me now)

Wish you were here is my favourite. Piper and Ummagumma still get a lot of play time.

Yep. "Wish You Were Here" for me too. "Animals" had a few good moments. After that Pink Floyd just sort of devolved into the "Roger-Waters'-Daddy-Died-In-The-War-And-He-Feels-Sorry-For-Himself-Tribute-Band".

McCartney did a voice over interview but I believe it was never used as Waters thought he ‘performed’ too much.

The guy at the end saying there is no dark side is the doorman at Abbey Road studios.

And the guy talking about giving someone a "Short, sharp shock" is 'Roger The Hat'...apparently a famous roadie - although I don't really know how roadies become famous, but it appears they do.
