This is the way it's been for far too long.
We tell our kids to be themselves, that they've got different qualities, that they need to be individuals. Yet they're all assessed on the same basis. If you don't get the exam results, you don't get the jobs you want. They know this, so kids drift into adulthood doing a job they never really wanted to do getting paid less than they're worth, struggling to afford the big branded goods they're told they need to make them happy.
